00:00I am a very extroverted person. I love to express myself. I want to show people what I can do.

00:12I really love to sing. I love to act and I love to dance at the same time.

00:19There was a time in my life that I thought I lost everything.

00:23I thought I would never sing again. So it was a really hard moment for me.

00:30I am Dorothy Krizelle Baladhay Collado and I'm a part of the Doha Players Community Theatre Group.

00:46I am now preparing for our upcoming show. It's entitled The Little Shop of Horrors, a musical from Broadway.

00:55It's a horror, love story, comedy, musical. We rehearse three to four times a week.

01:04We need at least seven to eight months of rehearsing and practice for us to give a very beautiful show.

01:13You need to collaborate with other members so teamwork is really important. It takes a lot of effort.

01:19It does require a continued commitment to produce works of a certain quality. There's a whole gamut of things that can take place.

01:30We have our director, producer, musical director, sound engineers, lighting engineers, stage manager, stage crew, stage hands, costume production, makeup.

01:44But what you see on stage is kind of the tip of the iceberg.

01:48I really enjoy being with the Doha Players during rehearsals because it brings out the best in me.

01:55Doha Players has been a blessing.

02:02Singing is my hobby ever since I was a kid.

02:05My family is musically inclined. My parents usually encouraged me to sing in front of a lot of people.

02:12They usually volunteer me to sing in an event or in a church.

02:20My dad is my vocal coach. He's a composer, keyboard player, and musical arranger.

02:26Back in 2021, my father passed away due to COVID-19.

02:32It was really devastating.

02:35This is really a sad moment for me. So, start.

02:41Yeah.

02:43Yeah.

02:45That's why it's really hard for me because he was my inspiration. He was my partner.

02:50I wasn't able to sing for a while because I think I was grieving.

03:02I lost my father and then I left my job in the Philippines to be with my husband, who works in Qatar.

03:10I am a licensed physical therapist for almost 17 years.

03:15It was kind of hard to let go because I really worked hard to get my position.

03:22When I moved here, I felt unproductive.

03:29There was something missing.

03:30There was something missing.

03:33I cannot continue with my life without music.

03:38I wanted to change that because I believe that I can be more than that.

03:45When I came across Doha Players, I got excited again.

03:53People dedicate their time to the Doha Players because primarily it's very rewarding for them.

04:00It's also a social environment. People make friends. We're like a big family.

04:04The reason the Doha Players has been around so long is quite simply the passion of the people involved.

04:11It provides a creative outlet.

04:15I felt really alive.

04:17Being in Doha Players really ignited my passion again for singing and performing on stage.

04:26I'm really grateful.

04:29I think that my dad is really happy knowing that I am performing again.

04:36I feel like I'm continuing his legacy.

04:49I dedicate my whole act to my family.

04:55We usually do video calls.

04:57We ask them to pray for me so that I can give my best during the performance.

05:05I really hope my family can watch me perform.

05:11My hopes in the future is for me to continue singing and performing.

05:17I still have a lot to offer.

05:19Being with the Doha Players really expands my creativity.

05:24I really find it rewarding.

05:26It's their thing and they've produced it.

05:28All that love and that joy just pours out.

05:31Everybody loves it when the audience stand up and they clap at the end of the night.
