00:00Today, it's my honor to officially sign the Take It Down Act into law.
00:14It's a big thing, very important, so horrible what takes place.
00:19This will be the first ever federal law to combat the distribution of explicit,
00:23imaginary, posted without subjects' consent, take horrible pictures,
00:31and I guess sometimes even make up the pictures,
00:33and they post it without consent or anything else.
00:36And very importantly, this includes for forgeries generated by artificial intelligence known as deepfakes.
00:43We've all heard about deepfakes.
00:44I have them all the time, but nobody does anything.
00:47I ask Pam, can you help me, Pam?
00:49She says, no, I'm too busy, too busy doing other things.
00:52Don't worry, you'll survive, but a lot of people don't survive.
00:55That's true and so horrible.
00:57With the rise of AI image generation, countless women have been harassed with deepfakes
01:02and other explicit images distributed against their will.
01:06This is the wrong, and it's just so horribly wrong,
01:10and it's a very abusive situation like in some cases people have never seen before,
01:16and today we're making it totally illegal.
