00:00I don't know if it's a golden age as ever but it's one of the golden age of cycling because
00:19it's true that we have wonderful races, wonderful athletes, riders and they always want to fight
00:27in a way and they take cycling as a game so it's clearly less boring than it was at some points
00:36and very exciting so yes it's nice and I think cycling is becoming more and more popular,
00:44the TV audiences are high and yes that's really a golden age for cycling.
00:50You know I think he's one of these leaders who will be part of the history of cycling.
01:01If you speak with Eddie Merckx or Bernard Hino, for them Pogacar is one of them and they have
01:10a lot of respect for what he's doing so I think if you compare Merckx and Pogacar the same age,
01:17they are not far away one from another so yes we can in a way compare Pogacar to Merckx.
01:25It will be in Rwanda.
01:27We never have doubts that it will be in Rwanda and that will be in Rwanda.
01:32Very happy to see so that over the last days or weeks they've been able to find an agreement
01:39in between Rwanda and IRDC under the leadership and umbrella of United States of America and
01:46then they sign a kind of first document to sign a peace agreement and that's great.
01:55So the situation is becoming calm now and it will be a huge huge success so I'm very
02:03pleased to see that the pressure is decreasing and that it will be a huge success and for
02:09the first edition in Africa that was quite important for us.
02:15We expect to have really a lot of people along the route, probably the most overcrowded World
02:22Championship ever.
02:25That's a big issue for all of us.
02:27For the riders first because that their job it's very stressful to race today to be with
02:33all these obstacles, for the teams of course because you don't want to endanger your employees
02:39in a way, for the organizers because you don't organize a race to have incidents or accidents,
02:46and for the UCI because our mission is to ensure that it's safe.
02:49So with that said, I have to say that we are working together and we create it safer in
02:58order to bring all the families, not to throw the hot potatoes from one to another but let's
03:04face it together.
03:06One of the big difficulties that we have today is that the roads are becoming more friendly
03:13for pedestrians or cyclists but not for cycling competition.
03:18It's a quite long debate and you know my personal feeling is that we don't need radio in a race.
03:28I know some stakeholders are not in agreement with this.
03:32Some riders are in favor, some riders are against, team managers are more in favor, the fans
03:36are completely against.
03:38So it's not so easy.
03:41But you have races where you don't have earpieces like UCI World Championships, Wannapig Games
03:47and you have less crashes.
03:48So it's not true to say that with earpieces it's more safe.
03:55You know it's forbidden to have earpieces when you drive a car because it can disturb you
04:02from being, from your attention to drive your car.
04:07So I believe it's a bit the same.
04:08With that said, it has to be also with the UCI rules.
04:13And you have to also respect the existing races.
04:18So how we can bring a new economic model.
04:23How we can enlarge our revenues without also only giving opportunities to races that will
04:31be part of one cycling instead of races not part necessarily of one cycling.
04:38We have to be careful and not to give more advantage to some races just because they could be part
04:44of one cycling.
04:46You know, Paris-Roubaix will still be Paris-Roubaix whether it's a one cycling race or not.
04:56And it will be more important than the Grand Prix de Plouet will just take two races in France
05:02not to make any problem in Spain.
05:04But I think we are the sport of anti-doping.
05:07Clearly we are the leading international federation, but we have to stay awake.
05:12Because this fight will never end.
05:15We will as always to fight.
05:17Why?
05:18Because we have new substances, a new method.
05:22So we have to work with laboratories and more specifically with the ITA.
05:26So we invest a lot, close to 10 million Swiss francs, which is close to 10 million euros.
05:31It's huge.
05:33And I will always say that credibility has no price, but it has a cost for us.
05:40The water must also invest more in the research because we collect all the samples.
05:46We work with police and so on.
05:47But at the end, it's not our job to make the analysis.
05:51The analysis are made with laboratories that receive a certification from the World Anti-Doping
05:57Agency.
05:58And.
05:59And.
06:00And.
06:01And.
06:02And.
06:03And.
06:04And.
