00:00Firstly, tell me about your mum, what's inspired you to do this run?
00:03She was the most special person in my life and probably a lot of other people's, to be honest.
00:10She passed away seven and a half years ago to cancer.
00:14And I was 23 at the time, which is an interesting age because you're obviously old enough to make your own decisions,
00:20but you probably haven't matured well enough yet.
00:22And I just felt like it was a very obvious crossroads, like two paths I could have gone down.
00:28And one was wave a white flag and it'd be acceptable if I went down like the drinking and drugs route.
00:33People would just give me a pass and be like, no, we get it.
00:36But she was such an incredible person and a supporter of me.
00:39And I saw the strength in her when she fought cancer.
00:42And I chose the other way, which was to use that pain and emotion for something positive.
00:48I've had a really amazing reception from the people of Australia, the truckies especially have been great.
00:54And I think that was kind of led by Ned Brockman's attempt when he ran it a few years ago.
01:00Obviously, there was a lot of eyes on him and he had, he might say, a bad experience out there.
01:06But I think everyone's come to this place now where they might see someone running on the road and think,
01:11oh, they're just out here trying to do something good.
01:13Yeah, it's been amazing.
01:14I mean, the total has been two and a half marathons a day and a five kilometre cool down.
01:20So that's pretty interesting.
01:21But yeah, we start before the sun goes up, finish when the sun's gone down.
01:25So I've seen a full moon cycle go from a crescent moon to a full moon and it's on its way back down again.
