00:00Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has never once stopped learning, not even when he made

00:09In an exclusive interview with FMT, Giggs stressed the need to keep learning and improving

00:14no matter your age.

00:17If you're at Manchester United, in a youth team you must be a good player.

00:22The rest, hard work, show personality, show confidence, and also a willingness to keep

00:31improving.

00:32To not think that you make your first team debut, okay that's it, I can sit back, I've

00:37made it.

00:38I never in my whole career, even in my 30s, late 30s, ever thought that I made it.

00:43I always thought that there was something that I could learn in training, something that

00:47I could learn in the games.

00:50He believed that players should never stay complacent as there's always someone ready

00:54to take their place.

00:56Always trying to improve and always trying to better yourself because not only is it hard

01:01enough coming up against the opposition, but also you have young players wanting your place,

01:08coming up behind you like I was, hungry, wanting to get into the team, so you can't stand still,

01:14you always have to improve.

01:15You just said that the game has changed and it's become rather systematic and less risky

01:20in a sense.

01:21What's your take on that?

01:22Are you a fan with the direction the game is going or do you miss the sense of the old

01:29days where the game was head on, where you used to take on defenders and whip across in

01:34and play with risk?

01:36I don't like seeing a winger face someone, turn around, pass back.

01:41I don't like that, that's just not my game.

01:43I was always brought up with, you take the defender on 10 times, you might get tackled

01:48nine, but the 10th time you'll win the game and that was always my mentality.

01:52I just think the defensive part of coaching has got that much better, so you have a system

01:59of pressing, you have a system of defending, so it's much harder to break down, especially

02:04when everyone's behind the ball.

02:06Giggs is currently in Malaysia to promote a match between United and the ASEAN All-Stars

02:10for the Maybank Challenge Cup 2025, which will be held on May 28th at the Bukit Jalil National

02:16Stadium.
