00:00Hardware store in Vermont, on the way to a psilocybin therapy weekend, the boots that
00:06I had with me were leaking and it was snowy.
00:09So I bought this tape and I taped the toe of my boots on both sides.
00:15This like connected me to a part of myself that is sort of not totally sealed up, needs
00:22a bit of like short term reinforcement.
00:25Started on my boots and then became, you know, really a portal into my masculinity.
00:32When we started writing the song Man of the Year, I pictured the person who wanted to
00:38be singing that song on a stage in front of people.
00:41It was me in my jeans and I wanted to be shirtless, just in a chain in my jeans.
00:47But I wanted some sort of coverage and something to sort of hint at binding and pulled this tape
00:53out of the closet and sort of like very quickly did these three strips across my chest.
01:00And I looked at myself in the mirror and I was like, that's, that's me.
01:04That's who I am.
01:05I really just like saw my body as an extension of the work of art.
