00:00So I gotta be honest with you, the Dallas Cowboys got ruthlessly screwed by the NFL with the schedule release.
00:10Hey what's up everyone, it's Mauricio Rodriguez here at ADZ Sports Dallas.
00:14Today we are talking about the Cowboys 2025 schedule.
00:17And listen, I don't want to do the whole reaction to the 18 weeks and go game by game with a win-loss prediction.
00:23Maybe we'll do that another time. But for now, I really want to zero in on the most important slate of games on the Cowboys schedule.
00:33Because listen, it is historically bad what the NFL did to the Cowboys.
00:39And let me show you what I mean. If you look at the Cowboys schedule, I think this streak of games would jump out to any fan.
00:46And I think that's what happened on Wednesday night. I'm talking about weeks 12 through week 17.
00:52You get the Eagles, you get the Chiefs, both of those games are at home.
00:56Then you go to Detroit and face the Lions. Then you host the Vikings, host the Chargers, and then you visit the Commanders.
01:04Now, it doesn't take a savvy football analyst to know that that is a rough stretch of games for Dallas.
01:12And them just being bundled together is far from ideal.
01:17However, the closer you look at it, the tougher it looks.
01:20And that's because, according to ESPN's research producer, Evan Kaplan and Elias Forsviro,
01:26the Cowboys will be the first team in NFL history to play six straight games against teams that all won 11-plus games the previous seasons.
01:37Now, that sounds bad, but it gets even worse.
01:40Out of those six games, three of them are consecutive matchups versus, not 11-win teams, 14-plus win teams.
01:49And I'm talking about that stretch of games versus the Eagles, Chiefs, and Lions.
01:53But that's not enough. Let me add some insult to injury here.
01:56Throughout that six-game span, the Cowboys play both the Chiefs and the Commanders on a short week.
02:01Now, granted, the Commanders and the Chiefs themselves are also going to be on a short week.
02:06But when you take into account the context of that six-game stretch for Dallas,
02:11this just looks like an absolute undeniable flaw on the NFL 2025 season schedule.
02:18Now, granted, many people will say, hey, they've got algorithms for this stuff.
02:23They spent hours upon hours and endless resources on getting a fair schedule or at least as close to fair as you can get.
02:33But I truly believe they got this one wrong.
02:36And I think the Cowboys are the victims of an NFL goal for 2025.
02:41And that is going big on windows that they didn't usually go big in.
02:46In fact, that is something that Mike North, the VP of broadcast planning for the NFL, has said in the Russ Tucker podcast.
02:54He talked about that being the theme of the NFL schedule this year.
02:58And I think the Cowboys got the wrong end of the stick on that one.
03:01And I'm talking about usually, if you think of the Thanksgiving matchup, you would get the Raiders maybe coming into town.
03:08You would get the Giants. You would get the Panthers.
03:11You would get a relatively easy game for Dallas on Thanksgiving.
03:14But now the NFL went big on Thanksgiving.
03:17And if you look at any of the three matchups for Turkey Day, they're pretty cool.
03:23But that includes the Cowboys hosting the chips.
03:26You look at Christmas Day and the goal is clearly the same.
03:29The NFL put together a strong lineup of games for Christmas.
03:33And that includes the Cowboys going to Washington.
03:36And then you add to that the fact that the NFL will usually save some big time matchups towards the end of the season
03:43between potentially playoff teams.
03:45And you get this six-game stretch, which is an absolute gauntlet for the Cowboys.
03:51And listen, we already knew that the Cowboys were going to have a difficult schedule in 2025.
03:57They ranked 22nd, with 32nd being the hardest schedule in the league, according to Vegas' win totals.
04:04But I look at the Bills, and they had the fifth easy schedule in the NFL this season.
04:07And they had games against the Bengals, the Chiefs, and the Ravens as their toughest matchups.
04:13And that makes up the four favorite teams in the AFC to win it all.
04:18And those are spread out for the Bills.
04:20They get the Ravens in Week 1, the Chiefs in Week 9, and the Bengals in Week 14.
04:25You know, spread out.
04:27Not all bundled together like the Cowboys.
04:29But hey, what can you do?
04:30I got the Cowboys going 2-4 in that six-game stretch.
04:33Let me know in the comments how you have the Cowboys going in the gauntlet that is going to be the 2025 season in November and December.
04:41For the Georgia game, let us know in the comments.
