00:00So NFL teams change very quickly in the NFL and that is why today I am looking at seven
00:06Cowboy starters who might be playing their last down of football with the star in 2025
00:11and we're also looking at their return likelihoods.
00:19Hey what's up everyone it's Mauricio Rodriguez here at ADZ Sports Dallas. As I said in the intro
00:25we're looking at players who might be playing their last season with the Cowboys in 2025. A couple of
00:30rules here though I'm basically sticking with players who are on contract years or in one-year
00:36deals like George Pickens spoiler alert or well projected starters because we don't really know
00:41for sure what the starting lineup is going to look like but without any further ado let's get to number
00:46one and one of the biggest names on the list Jake Ferguson. I am setting his return likelihood
00:51pretty high 8.5 out of 10. The reason is pretty simple man. I don't think the franchise tag is
00:57going to be very expensive for tight ends. Right now it is the third least expensive in the league
01:01for every position. So worst case scenario if Ferguson doesn't kill it in 2025 and the Cowboys
01:06are unsure about signing him to a long-term deal you can take him and that's it. Best case scenario
01:11though if Ferguson does take that next step I think he's looking at a big big extension and maybe and
01:17maybe becoming one of the highest paid tight ends in the entire NFL. Next up on the list is Donovan
01:22Wilson. I am setting his return likelihood quite low at 3.5 out of 10 and the reason is pretty simple
01:28even this year I thought he was a cap casualty candidate. Why? Because of the salary, because of
01:33his age. He's going to be making 6.5 million dollars this season at 30 years old. I just I'm not sure
01:39they're going to want him back at 31 years old given the depth that they currently have the position.
01:45They have 1G Thomas, they have Marquise Bell, even undrafted free agents like Elijah Clark might turn
01:50heads here and there. I just think this is it for Donovan Wilson as a Cowboy. Now let's go with
01:54Dante Fowler Jr. I think the edge rusher is a tuss up and I'm setting it at 5 out of 10 and you know
02:01he's on a one-year deal. He is projected to start but even I'm not sure that he is gonna start because
02:06there's gonna be good competition from Rashawn Neland, Donovan Esiraku so it really just depends on how
02:12well he does this season as a Cowboy. Bottom line, there's a lot of young players on this team. How
02:17good are they gonna be? Man, I just don't know. Now I'm gonna go with a new face in the defensive
02:22backfield, cornerback Kair Elam. I'm going with 3 out of 10 because it seems like a situation where
02:28either he's very good and he treats this as a prove-it-deer and in that case I just don't see
02:33the Cowboys paying up or he is bad and then the Cowboys just don't want him back at all. Now next up
02:39is not only a starting player but a projected starting middle line backer. Jack Sanborn,
02:45green dot defender is what we're talking about. He only signed for one year but I'm setting his
02:50return likelihood pretty high. 7 out of 10 and the reason why is he is a Matt Irifluos guy. That's
02:56why he's in Dallas and I just don't see him leaving after the one season. I don't see him breaking the
03:03bank so this seems like a player who is just very likely to return as long as he does well. Now,
03:08the two biggest names on the list arguably, cornerback Theron Bland. Man, this is a tough
03:15one. I'm gonna set it at 7 out of 10 just because I'm not sure the Cowboys have a lot of options here.
03:21Trevon Diggs, I feel like he's on his way out after the 2025 season. I think health has become a
03:26factor. I've explained why. I'm not really sure. The Cowboys and Diggs are very happy with one another
03:32but this will be a feisty negotiation process. The franchise tag will absolutely be an option
03:37in 2026 but man, this is one of those situations where we don't really know how good Bland is. It's
03:43controversial. PFF just ranked him as a 32nd best corner in the league which might seem kind of low
03:49but there are some arguments to that. I think they end up signing him but it's gonna be a long
03:54winding process. And finally, one of the biggest faces of the offseason, wide receiver George Pickens.
04:00The Cowboys don't want to extend him. He doesn't want to be extended. This is a one-year deal so he's
04:05gonna be a pending free agent in 2026. The return likelihood I am setting for him, 3.5 out of 10.
04:12Similar to the Kyrie Elam thing but in a different level. If Pickens is very good for the Cowboys,
04:17he's likely gonna price himself out of the Dallas range. You're talking about a young guy with a lot
04:22of talent that if he proves he can be well-behaved and he can be a no-issue for his team, he is gonna
04:27become one of the highest paid wide receivers in the NFL. In fact, I think the words that he plays,
04:32the likelier he is to run it back with the Cowboys but I think he's gonna do good. So hey,
04:373.5 out of 10 is my final number. So there you go. Let me know what you think in the comments
04:41and I'll see you next time.
