08:07It's autobiographically the most me song

08:11The most song that's me out of anything I've ever written

08:13And I think a lot of times when you're from California

08:17You get stereotyped wrong

08:19And for me, you know, my dad was a third generation farmer

08:22Produce farmer

08:23And my uncle was in the rodeo world

08:25And so I always felt very down home

08:27And connected to the country lifestyle

08:28And country music

08:30And I really would rather be in boots than heels

08:32So, yeah, it's definitely who I am

08:37Absolutely

08:37So, I've been a fan of yours since Neon Baby

08:40Aw

08:41Which last year I wrote about that

08:42In our billboard must hear new country songs column

08:45Thank you

08:45Did you know it was going to be such a hit when you wrote it?

08:50We knew it was special

08:51You know, like sometimes you write a song

08:53And there's almost a familiarity to it

08:56Where you're like, man, it feels like this song's been around before

08:58Like, I know this song

09:00Or I was meant to write this song

09:01And it always felt different to me

09:03You know, very reminiscent of like kind of old school country

09:06But mixed in with a little soul

09:08Like a little Crystal Gale

09:09And throwback

09:10And so I felt like it was unique

09:12And the title was kind of unique

09:13And the sentiment

09:14Because usually it's guys that talk about wanting romance

09:17Yeah

09:18You know, but I figured I'd written enough man-hater songs in my day

09:20And it was like, you know, let's change the tune

09:23And write a man-loving song

09:25I love that

09:26Well, so when I think desert and boots

09:29Obviously I think stagecoach

09:31What did it mean to you to perform at stagecoach this year?

09:34I could get like emotional talking about it

09:36Because three years ago

09:38I went as a spectator with my sister

09:41We drove up last minute

09:42I slept on an inflatable mattress

09:44In the Airbnb of my cousin's living room

09:47Next to like a pinball machine

09:49And they were all coming in late at night

09:52And I was like, you know, it would deflate

09:53Every like two seconds

09:55The air would go down

09:56And we'd be on the floor

09:57We were in the audience

09:58And my sister said

09:59We play this game sometimes

10:00Where she says

10:01Won't it be amazing?

10:02Like, won't it be amazing when we do this?

10:05Or won't it be amazing when we get married

10:07Or have kids or whatever?

10:08So she said

10:09Won't it be amazing when you play stagecoach?

10:10And I looked at her and I went

10:13Yeah, won't it be amazing when I play stagecoach?

10:16And we both had this really sweet moment

10:18So I played last year

10:19Which was really awesome

10:20But on a smaller stage

10:22It was last minute

10:23And now like to be on the main stage

10:25Is wild

10:26Because when she said it

10:27We were actually looking at the main stage

10:29Oh, nice

10:29Yeah

10:30And so my whole family will be there to watch

10:32It doesn't get bigger than stagecoach

10:34If you're from California

10:35You know?

10:37Absolutely

10:37Well, and so you've got a surprise for us today

10:40You're going to be premiering a new song called God Wings

10:43Yeah

10:43Tell me about that

10:44Oh, man

10:46Out of any song I've ever written

10:47I'd say this is the most special one

10:49I've written lots and lots and lots and lots of countless songs

10:55But there's a few that stick out that are special

10:58Every time I play it live, somebody cries

11:01I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing

11:02But I think it touches people

11:04Because, you know, for me

11:06I'd moved to Nashville

11:07And I'd been doing the whole thing for like 15 years

11:10And I had deals fall through

11:11It seemed like nothing could really work

11:13So I'd moved home

11:14And I said, I'll go back to Nashville

11:17And I get a gig

11:18And then I got a gig in Nashville

11:20Then Skill was at that gig

11:21And said, what are you doing?

11:22And I said, well, I want to make an album

11:23And he offered to sing and play on it

11:25And that was my God wink moment

11:27Yeah

11:27That my mom talks about

11:28When I told her the story

11:29She said, that's a God wink

11:30And that was a sign to me

11:31Yeah, I got to do this

11:33And keep making music

11:34And putting it out

11:35And then it attracted my manager

11:36And a record deal

11:37And I wouldn't be here today

11:38If it weren't for that

11:39So I think sometimes you want to give up

11:42And you feel like you're at the end of your rope

11:44And God sends you a sign

11:46I love that

11:48Saying don't give up yet

11:49Absolutely

11:49Keep going

11:50And I got you

11:51And I got your back

11:51That's right, absolutely

11:53Yeah

11:53So when was the last time

11:54You felt like you got a God wink?

11:56I think I see signs all the time

12:15Or, you know, it's wild

12:16But I do believe in signs
