01:14Let's start with the two different types.
01:17The investment in physical silver and the investment in so-called paper silver.
01:22The difference is actually quite easy to explain.
01:25With physical investment, you purchase silver directly.
01:28For example, by buying a silver bar or a silver mint.
01:33Paper silver refers to securities that are intended to reflect the development of the silver price,
01:38but no real silver is purchased.
01:41Usually only a very small fraction of the silver is actually present.
01:45This is made worse by the fact that there is no legal regulation
01:49which stipulates that the paper silver must be fully or at least partially backed by physical silver.
01:56It would be like buying an expensive and rare watch,
01:59but instead of the clock you get a piece of paper that says clock.
02:04At the same time, hundreds of others receive the same slip for the same watch.

02:09And that's not an exaggerated metaphor.

02:33a total of 900 million troy ounces of silver in the form of paper silver,
02:38more precisely, traded via Exchange Traded Products.

02:46That’s 38,000 tons.
02:49Simply unimaginable.
02:51To help you better understand,
02:53The Statue of Liberty weighs approximately 225 tons.
02:56This means that in the last five years approximately 124 times
03:01the weight of the Statue of Liberty was traded as paper silver.
03:05This is made even more drastic by the fact that silver is a finite resource.
03:09Experts estimate that we have already mined 90% of all silver.
03:14This means that demand cannot be met for much longer.
03:18This aspect is aggravated when one considers
03:20how little silver is deposited on the stock exchange.
03:22Approximately 500 to 600 ounces are traded electronically for each deposited ounce.
03:28Let’s go back to the clock example.
03:30So you buy this luxury watch, but instead of the watch you receive a piece of paper.
03:35599 others receive the same ticket for the same watch.
03:40However, everyone pays the full price for the watch.
03:43Would you think that's fair?
03:44Nothing else happens with electronic trading of silver,
03:47or paper silver.
03:49And there is another point that dramatically exacerbates these aspects.
03:54To do this, we need to look at which areas trigger demand.
03:57Here you can see how silver demand is structured.
04:01You can see that the largest share is in the industrial sector.
04:05This represents the highest demand.
04:08Silver is a very good electronic conductor.
04:10And also very shapeable and flexible.
04:13Accordingly, the metal is currently used in almost every electronic device.
04:17And there is no alternative.
04:20The demand for physical silver will therefore continue to rise sharply.
04:24Paper silver, on the other hand, can hardly be used in electronic devices.
04:28Accordingly, there is no benefit.
