00:00The very first official silver report for 2025 has just been published and it makes the worst fears official.
00:09Industrial demand for silver was significantly higher than expected in 2024.
00:14This will result in a record silver deficit for the fourth time in a row and will result in the highest silver price since 2012 in 2024.
00:23And that's not all. Midnight production is well below expectations.
00:27Global silver demand reached 1.21 billion ounces in 2024, and industrial demand exceeded the 700 million ounces per year mark for the first time.
00:38So welcome back to Thesaurus.
00:41In this video I will introduce you to the silver report mentioned above in more detail and explain all the facts it contains.
00:48I will also give you an overview of what this could mean for the silver price and your investment opportunities in the long term.
00:53Before we begin, I must give you a legal notice that this video is neither investment advice nor a recommendation for action.
01:01What I present to you is only my personal opinion based on my research.
01:06However, you are welcome to leave me a free subscription to help me reach my goal of 10,000 subscribers by the end of the year.
01:13Thank you!
01:13Before we talk about the results of the Silver Report, I would first like to introduce you to what this report actually is and who published it.
01:22The report is published by the official Institute for Silver.
01:26The exciting thing about it is that it is a non-profit organization.
01:31This means that there is no profit motive behind the publications.
01:35The organization also brings together expert knowledge in every area of silver production and use.
01:40The institute's staff includes leading silver mining companies, refineries, precious metal suppliers, manufacturers of silver products and wholesalers of silver investment products.
01:51The institute aims to increase general understanding and knowledge of and about silver.
01:57So you see, this is really a reputable source and the results should definitely be taken seriously.
02:02I've also included a link to it in the video description for you to read.
02:06Now that you know where the information comes from and that it can be trusted, let's take a closer look at this information.
02:12We will cover four main topics in this video.
02:15First, let’s take a look at the supply and demand of silver.
02:19I will also explain why this is problematic.
02:22Then we will talk about the difference between physical investing and investing via ETPs and how the corresponding demand has developed.
02:29And last but not least, I offer you a general classification.
02:32Let's go!
02:33Let's start with supply and demand.
02:36I will start by asking.
02:39I think it will come as no surprise that demand for silver has increased dramatically in recent years.
02:44Silver is simply becoming more and more popular and more and more important for our everyday lives.
02:48But more on that later.
02:50You can see exactly how silver demand has developed here.
02:53Really extreme numbers.
02:55In 2023 alone, 1.4 billion ounces of silver were in demand.
03:01This is hard to believe.
03:02To help you visualize it, 1.4 billion ounces equals 43,540 tons.
03:10That is the weight of 10,000 elephants or 36,000 small paths.
03:16And that was in the last year alone.
03:17And the trend is increasing sharply, as you can see.
03:20In the last 5 years alone, demand for 5.5 billion ounces has been recorded.
03:25That's equivalent to the weight of 43,000 elephants.
03:29This clearly shows how enormous the demand is.
03:32But the topic becomes even more exciting when you consider what the silver is used for.
03:37It is an integral part of all our lives.
03:41You could even call it vital.
03:43And this is regardless of whether we invest in the metal ourselves or not.
03:47But let me explain.
03:49To do this, you have to look at which areas are particularly high in demand.
03:53Here you can see the demand broken down by area.
03:55Do you see the crux of the matter?
03:56That's right, the absolute lion's share of silver demand comes from industry.
04:01Silver is an optimal electronic conductor and is also very malleable and flexible.
04:06It is now used in almost every device we use in our everyday lives.
04:11From the mobile phone we all own, to the computers we use, the cars we drive, or the solar panels we use to generate electricity.
04:18Nowadays, silver is an essential part of any of these devices.
04:21So we all use silver.
04:23Whether consciously or subconsciously.
04:25And currently there are no alternatives for the industry.
04:28The already very high demand will therefore continue to rise sharply.
04:32Let us now look at the relevant figures from the silver report.
04:35Industry demand remained unmatched in 2024.
04:39It even increases again by 7%.
04:42And thus over the 700 million ounce mark.
04:46A high percentage increase.
04:48And this despite the fact that there was already a lot of demand for 2023.
04:52The increase is quite easy to explain.
04:54It is mainly due to two factors.
04:57The green sector, especially solar energy and the automotive sector.
05:01Both recorded a strong increase.
05:04In principle, however, there is an increase in every area.
05:07In addition, there were some innovative inventions and new practices in 2024 that also rely on silver.
05:15The Silver Report mentions, for example, the fight against cancer.
05:18According to this study, physicists from the Netherlands have succeeded in developing a new method for destroying cancer cells.
05:25It uses a package of silver and DNA to destroy the cancer cells without damaging surrounding cells.
05:32This could represent a significant advance in cancer treatment, as conventional chemotherapy and radiation protocols often attack healthy cells.
05:39The two researchers, Donny De Bruhn and Dirk Baumester, wrapped a single strand of DNA with silver atoms, which passed through the body without harming the patient.
05:48This package is so small that it can safely penetrate the body's cells without causing damage.
05:53Once it reaches the target site, the silver is activated with light.
05:57This triggers a so-called toxicity injection.
06:00This stops the normal DNA processes in the affected cell, preventing cell division.
06:04The body then disposes of the damaged cell, De Bruhn explained in a prepared statement.
06:10In addition, silver is becoming increasingly important for anti-counterfeiting technology.
06:14In addition, research is currently being conducted into how the addition of nanosilver increases the nutritional value of potatoes and at the same time protects the plants from diseases.
06:22So you see, there are truly fascinating uses for silver that hardly anyone is aware of today.
06:28But all this will only lead to more and more demand for silver.
06:31However, supply will not be able to meet this demand.
06:34A high silver deficit has already developed in recent years.
06:37More on this later when we talk about silver mining production.
06:41But one thing at a time.
06:42Let us first ask ourselves a general question.
06:44What about the offer?
06:45Can this meet the high demand?
06:48The frightening truth is, no, it can't.
06:51Not even in the slightest.
06:53Just look at this table.
06:55It breaks down supply and demand very precisely.
06:58You can see that in recent years there has been an incredible deficit of silver.
07:03This means that supply could not meet demand.
07:06Or rather, less silver was mined than consumed.
07:10That's shocking.
07:12Above all, it must be noted that this cannot continue for much longer.
07:15Experts estimate that we have already extracted about 85% of the recoverable silver.
07:21This means that the vast majority of all silver deposits have been developed.
07:25So less and less silver is being mined.
07:27This is also illustrated by the fact that silver is hardly mined as a main product anymore.
07:33Or can be promoted.
07:34Silver is the main product in only 30% of all silver mining.
07:38Conversely, this means that 70% of silver already comes from mining projects that have other metals as their primary target.
07:45But that’s not all.
07:46If we assume that the experts are right, the globally mineable silver reserves are likely to last only for another 19 years.
07:54These are frightening numbers.
07:57Especially when you consider that this bill is still based on current demand.
08:01I have already shown you that this will increase massively in the next few years.
08:05This becomes even more frightening in connection with the silver report.
08:09More specifically, with the silver production figures published there.
08:12Mine Supply Director Sarah Tomilson stated that even in the best-case scenario, silver production could only be increased by 1%.
08:23You don't have to be a genius to realize the problem.
08:25There was already a silver deficit last year.
08:28Demand is conservatively estimated to be 8-12% higher.
08:32However, in the best case scenario, supply can only be increased by 1%.
08:36Accordingly, the deficit is getting bigger and bigger and the supply of silver is getting scarcer.
08:40However, we haven’t even touched on the tip of the iceberg yet.
08:44Point number 3.
08:45The big bubble surrounding electronically traded silver.
08:49Let’s start with the official figures from the silver report.
08:52The demand for electronically traded silver via so-called ETPs is increasing dramatically again.
08:58In comparison, private investors invest less in physical products.
09:02So there is a shift taking place.
09:05However, this is extremely dangerous.
09:07Especially since there are no legal regulations regarding how much silver must be deposited.
09:12Unfortunately, the whole thing is being exploited mercilessly.
09:15For every physically deposited ounce of silver, there are 500-600 electronically traded ounces.
09:21This is an enormous bubble.
09:23It would be like buying a luxury watch, but instead of the watch you get a piece of paper that says watch.
09:28600 other people receive the same slip for the same watch.
09:32But everyone pays full price.
09:35Would you like that?
09:36Or fair?
09:37If you want to learn more about the dangerous difference between paper silver and real silver,
09:42you should definitely stop by here.
09:43After reading the silver report, one thing was very clear to me.
09:47The silver deficit will continue to grow.
09:50Supply cannot even begin to meet demand.
09:53But for industry, and thus the largest and most important part of demand, there is currently no alternative.
10:00Personally, I believe this will be reflected in the price in 2025.
10:03So I will be diligent in buying silver.
10:06In this video you can see which special coins I am betting on in 2025 and why I am purchasing them.
10:12If you liked the video, I would appreciate a subscription.
10:15Oh, and by the way, YouTube thinks this video is going to be your new favorite video.
