00:00For Steve Kerr at five, assuming that all goes well travel-wise,
00:06on their way to Minnesota, because, oh yeah, that's right, season's not over yet.
00:10It's not. It's really not.
00:12And, you know, like you said, they're allowed to win game five,
00:16and, you know, they can come back and win game six.
00:18They can do it without Steph Curry.
00:20The odds point you in the direction that it's not super-duper likely,
00:25but these are champions, a couple of them, two or three of them,
00:28and Jimmy Butler's a guy who I don't imagine is just going to roll over in a tight spot.
00:33No, no, no.
00:34Minnesota's got to do it.
00:35Yeah, they'll play hard. They'll play hard tomorrow night.
00:38Huge, huge task.
00:39And look, let's, I mean, how the hell can you not feel a little deflated about all of it today?
00:46I don't know how you can not feel that way.
00:49Right.
00:49How can you not?
00:50What's to be inflated about?
00:52They've lost three in a row.
00:53And last I checked, if you lose four straight games in the playoffs, you don't advance.
00:59And I was trying to figure out any possible way you could lose four in a row,
01:03but it's impossible to lose four consecutive games and advance.
01:08Because you end a series always with a win.
01:11You don't end a series on a loss, right?
01:14Usually not, yeah.
01:15I don't know if you can end a series on a loss.
01:17Pretty sure you can't.
01:18Right.
01:18So then you get into another series, you can't lose four in a row.
01:21Oh, well, that's fun math.
01:23Yeah, you're right.
01:24Well, you did that earlier.
01:25You're like, yeah, they've lost three in a row.
01:26And I was thinking, has anyone ever lost four in a row?
01:29And before I said it out loud, I'm like, no, dummy.
01:31Yeah, plenty of people have lost four in a row, but not in the playoffs.
01:34Not continued to play after that.
01:36Yeah, fair.
01:37Yeah.
01:37That's a good point.
01:38You have to go home when you do that.
01:39Yeah.
01:39You got to go.
01:40I can't stay here.
01:41You don't have to go home.
01:42You can't stay here.
01:43Yeah.
01:43Coming to you live, Laughing Monk Studios, Laughing Monk, righteously brewed here in San Francisco.
01:48We love having Laughing Monk along for the ride.
01:50They've been throwing some great watch parties for all of these Warrior games.
01:53And, yes, not done yet.
01:55Let's go to Theo in the East Bay.
01:58Hi, Theo.
01:59Thank you for calling.
01:59What's up?
02:02Yeah, thanks for taking my call, guys.
02:03Look, I don't think it's done yet.
02:06And you know what?
02:07Until it is, then you know what?
02:08I'll let it hit me.
02:10But as of right now, we've still got game five.
02:13And I'm looking forward to it.
02:14I think we're going to win that one.
02:16Jimmy's probably going to have a good game.
02:17I'm hoping on it.
02:18Come back and get a few days of rest in between game six.
02:23You know, shout out to the Valkyries.
02:25But then if Steph Curry doesn't come out game six, that's fine with me.
02:29We'll get a Buddy Hilton, a JK game there.
02:32And bring him back to Minnesota for game seven.
02:36And guess what?
02:37Say all these things the same.
02:39Steph will be back.
02:40Doves in seven.
02:41That's how I'm feeling, boys.
02:43I'm not down yet.
02:44Cheers.
02:44I love it.
02:45Cheers.
02:45Yeah.
02:46I'm going to change that guy's name to Bobby McFerrin.
02:49And some of you will get that reference.
02:51Some of you won't.
02:52Don't worry.
02:53Be happy.
02:53That's okay.
02:54Like, if you can find unbridled optimism today, and I don't mean about life, I hope you're
03:02still happy.
03:03And I hope you're still having a great day.
03:04It's beautiful, sunshine, and outside.
03:06But if you can find true, unbridled optimism about the Warriors' chances in this series
03:14today, good on you.
03:16No doubt.
03:16Good on you.
03:17You're the kind of person I want to hang out with.
03:19Because only three times has a team done this.
03:22Down 3-1 to win two on the road.
03:25Cleveland over the Warriors, I mentioned it.
03:27Houston beats Phoenix in the Western Conference semis in 95.
03:32Game five on the road, they won in overtime.
03:34Hakeem with 31-16.
03:37Barkley and A.C. Green with 20 rebounds apiece.
03:40They win in overtime.
03:41Houston wins game six.
03:43Game seven, back in Phoenix, Kevin Johnson with 46.
03:46Yeah.
03:47In a loss.
03:48Well, like, listen to what you're saying, though.
03:50And again, I'm sorry to, like, be the bearer of all this.
03:55No, the names.
03:56Well, the stars were playing.
03:58Right.
03:59Their best players were playing when they rallied back from down 3-1.
04:03Game seven on the road, Akeem and Drexler, Hall of Famers, 29 apiece.
04:09And that's when Mario Ellie hit the kiss of death, they call it.
04:12The three ball in the corner with about five seconds left to stun Sir Charles.
04:17Mr. Deep Dive Dibs.
04:19By the way, what happened to the, like, come on.
04:21Where's our thingamabob for dibs whenever he goes on a deep dive?
04:25Where'd it go?
04:26I still have it.
04:27You want it right now?
04:27Yeah, play it right now.
04:28All right, here we go.
04:29Here's Mark along, my friends.
04:33Uh-huh.
04:34We're going deep.
04:35We went deep.
04:36Yeah.
04:36But how deep did you go is what I want to know.
04:38I went super deep on teams down 3-1 in a best of seven, teams that were able to win.
04:45And how many of them were there?
04:4613, Mark.
04:47Have any of them been without their best player?
04:51Uh, let me look at, let me see, carry the two, uh, uh, no, Mark.
05:00Okay.
05:00But one thing, one thing that did stand out.
05:04What?
05:04And I'll put the home road aside.
05:06Uh, at times, teams got an unexpected, unbelievable performance on their way to doing it.
05:13Okay.
05:1313-97, Miami beats the Knicks.
05:16Yes!
05:18Vashon Leonard with 21 in game five.
05:21Miami wins in overtime over New York.
05:25And you remember that was the game of the brawl.
05:28P.J. Brown, and that's when, uh, Ben Gundy was holding onto a leg.
05:33Ewing suspended for game six.
05:35That was the best.
05:36So Miami wins game six without Ewing.
05:38Uh-huh.
05:38Ewing comes back at home, 37-17, actually on the road.
05:44Uh, Tim Hardaway with 38 in Miami.
05:47Miami wins it.
05:48Yeah.
05:48And, uh, that was a weird one, though, because Ewing out, P.J. Brown out, Starks missed game
05:53seven.
05:54There you go.
05:54But it was Vashon Leonard in game five who, down 3-1, the kid out of Minnesota.
05:59He has 21, uh, at home, though.
06:03That was one where Miami was at home.
06:04So it just struck me that sometimes, as I did my deep dive, sometimes you need something
06:10like that to prolong a series.
06:13So, like, Moses Moody gets back in the rotation and he gets 19 or another Buddy Buckets game
06:19or something funky's got to happen tomorrow, right?
06:22Well, okay, so I think you just said it.
06:23Okay, Granny, thanks.
06:25All right, so I think, I think what you just said, what I heard you say is that, um, what
06:32the Warriors might need to do is something that has never happened before in the history
06:41of the NBA.
06:44Rally back from down 3-1 with two games on the road without your best player.
06:49Now, I understand some of you may be, well, hold on.
06:52You don't know if it's all going to be without the best player.
06:54What if they win tomorrow night?
06:56That's fair.
06:56Fair response.
06:57I have no idea he's going to play.
06:59I got my doubts.
07:00But, um, it's never happened before.
07:03So, again, all I'm saying is that, I guess at the end of this sort of like, um, the discussion
07:13starter, if you will, is that if the Warriors, and it's still an if, but if they're knocked
07:19out, and if it's tomorrow night, and, and, and Steph Curry never plays, I, I have a sum
07:26total of, of nothing in my anger glass.
07:31Nothing.
07:32And that has nothing to do, Guanis Lee, with your like, Pods is playing too much.
07:37Okay, let's talk about it.
07:39Kaminga's not playing enough.
07:40Let's talk about it.
07:42We can do all of those things.
07:44I can't get mad at a team that loses when their generational star's out.
07:48I can't get mad either.
07:50I can't get mad.
07:50I can get, not, I don't know.
07:52Frustrated?
07:53I don't even know if frustrated, frustrated might be too strong.
07:56What's the word?
07:57Uh, just disappointed.
07:58Disappointed?
07:59Okay, sure.
08:00Because I look at game three, and I think, you know what, that was the one, that was
08:04the kind of game you needed to win, and you were in it until there was about four minutes
08:08left, and so that's the one where, when you look back, I look at it and go, because
08:13last night, honestly, uh, Randall, my God, he was amazing, and then Edwards
08:18was phenomenal, and even, I think the game could have been, should have been closer,
08:22but in the third quarter, they were spectacular, you were terrible, you lose.
08:27Wow, the Warriors should have been up by more at halftime.
08:31True.
08:31That's actually where I felt like there was a disappointment when we got to the second
08:34half.
08:35Minnesota was amazing.
08:36Give them credit.
08:37They were way too good.
08:38Obviously, I'm with you with the disappointment of game three.
08:42I yelled at electronics.
08:44I yelled loudly at electronics.
08:47I was very angry after that game.
08:49That was me last night.
08:50Yeah, I was very, see, by the, to me, it had already set in, and I just, I don't know.
08:56That's how I see it.
08:57Like, you lose Steph Curry, you're probably going to get beat, and they're probably going
09:03to get beat.
09:04They're in the process of getting beat.
09:05When they got down 20, that's when I was like, okay, and I flipped the remote to my
09:11lovely wife, Supper, and her name is Supper, because she calls dinner Supper, and I said,
09:15Sup, put something on.
09:18She said, we can still watch this.
09:19I said, please.
09:20She wasn't wearing anything?
09:22No, I said, put something else on the TV.
09:24Oh, you said put something on.
09:25On the TV.
09:26How the hell do you guys watch these games?
09:27She's clothed, yeah.
09:29We do a strip playoffs every time that, every time Anthony Edwards hits a three, something's
09:35got to come on.
09:35Every time Pods misses a shot.
09:37Dude.
09:38Ba-da, ba-da, ba-da.
09:40Anyway, go ahead.
09:40Boy, it was nakey, nakey, nakey in the first half then.
09:43That's what it was.
09:44They got down 20, and at that point, I was like, all right, we're not going to swear
09:49at the TV anymore.
09:51They're down 20.
09:52This one's not going our way.
09:53All right.
