A sophisticated drugs farm, worth over £1 million, has been uncovered by Neighbourhood Officers in Rotherham.

Hidden within a former snooker hall, the cultivation was discovered after officers from Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) executed a Section 23 misuse of drugs warrant in Ferham.

The warrant was secured following reports from power companies that residents near to the building were experiencing frequent power cuts - a common sign that a property is dangerously and illegally bypassing electricity.

00:00Hello, my name is John Crapper and I'm the inspector in charge of the Central Rotherham
00:04Neighbourhood Policing Team. Yesterday my team executed a search warrant at these premises here
00:10and inside we found cannabis plants with a value of £1.4 million. I am, as you can imagine,
00:16delighted. That's £1.4 million worth of cannabis that won't be smoked and harm the health of people
00:22who we know and love. That's also £1.4 million that won't find its way into the pockets of
00:27organised criminals who then go around our communities flaunting their ill-gotten wealth.
00:33So if I have one request to make to you, it's that please, if you have any suspicions about a property
00:38or premises near you, please do report it. Maybe during the winter there was snow on the roof that
00:44melted very quickly. Maybe it's meant to be unoccupied but occasionally you see people take
00:49stuff inside or you hear noises late at night or you hear fans going or smell odd smells. Whatever it
00:56is, please do report it. And as yesterday's result shows, when we are able to act, we will,
01:02with great results. Thank you.
