00:00Hi my name is Alicia and if this is your first time visiting my channel welcome. So what is it
00:21like to switch fandoms especially when you've been rooting for the rival or rooting for another
00:26one for a long time. I'm not going to lie to you it's been an adjustment and airplane
00:37in buggies
00:38okay you know what let me try again
00:55anyways it's been an adjustment because just to get into my story a little bit I still have some
01:05friends on that side but I was treated so badly for many years that I started visiting other schools
01:35and going other places and I have to be really honest
01:57I have to be honest at first I didn't want to become a fan of IU because I have family over
02:08there and I'm one of those type of people that I want to make my own path for myself but it quite
02:13didn't work out but I kept finding my ass at IU every time I was at IU I was always treated nicely
02:20I'm not expecting to have a red carpet rolled out for me I wasn't expecting to be treated like a celebrity
02:26I'm buying my tickets like everybody else I'm standing in lines like everybody else I just wanted
02:31to be treated nice and the other school in question was not nice I was treated so nice that I started to
02:38say you know what I could really be a fan of this place every time I left IU when I was a student at the
02:47the other place my heart just sank because I knew like I'm going to hell and I'm leaving heaven that's
02:53literally what it felt like and I feel like now that I'm actually an IU fan officially for two years
03:02one on three it hasn't been an easy adjustment because every time I watch friends from my other
03:08school it's almost like eh I'm supposed to be over there right no no no you're over here no no no it's
03:14like you get flashbacks of the good times you had the good place but then you realize wait it wasn't
03:21a good place they didn't treat you nice so this is your good place I feel like there's a bunch of
03:25flashbacks of kind of like going back and forth and oh shit maybe I should go back and try to make
03:31changes I'm like uh-uh oh I'm sorry somebody tried to call me anyways the first time I became an IU fan
03:41there was a lot of back and forth and kind of like that in my mind because you gotta understand
03:44so I'm a Gemini that back and forth thing oh that place was good that place was not good oh wait this
03:49place is better that place is good that place was awful because at the end of the day like I did it for
03:56my own good I cut off a lot of people places and things that weren't good for me and wasn't serving me
04:03and being an IU fan it's fun
04:17it is a fun fandom I enjoy going to games when I can I learn new things about IU all the time even
04:42though I've been watching IU for many many many many years becoming an official fan it's definitely
04:48a learning curve too there's a lot of things I have to learn about who's your nation and it's been a good
04:54time and learning about the history learning about everything you know the sports has been incredible
05:03but I'm also taking a long wolf journey on this journey and so
05:07it's been educational it's been fun and while I do cherish and will respect the memories of the place
05:19I used to be at I welcome all my friends that's still on that side come on over to the Bloomington
05:26side because they are fun they're crazy they're fun they've always welcomed me with open arms and that's
05:33what I've always appreciated it so oh so I do have a quick story um I've ran into several groups and
05:45in one of the groups there's a couple people that passed away but before they passed away we actually
05:50went to Bloomington and had a good time and when I visit someplace new I generally don't drink that much
05:57because I'm just trying to get to know the place because I've been to campuses and cities all across the
06:01country and every kind of campus and every kind of city every kind of big city had its own vibe
06:08and I remember walking outside the bar on um Wilmington's campus like right outside of Walnut
06:15I forget which one it was it's been a while I'll post a picture
06:18and right before that picture was taken they're like hey you want to come hang out with us
06:38they didn't know me from Adam I didn't know them but one of the things I've always remembered about
06:48IU and Wilmington's campus they've always made me feel welcome and I'm not expecting IU to be perfect
06:55I'm not expecting IU to win all the games I'm not expecting IU to be squeaky squeaky clean and
07:02perfect and roll out the red carpet and recognize me and stuff like that I've always appreciated IU for
07:07just being kind and I've been on Wilmington's campus multiple times and they were always just nice and
07:14gracious and welcoming and on the campus where I was at and watching I had my friends I had my circles
07:23but I never felt like I was at home I was always tense there was just a lot going on people passing
07:29away in my life not feeling supported not feeling welcomed a lot of times and you have to understand
07:36like I was sort of trained growing up you know you're supposed to hate IU you're supposed to
07:41not like this place but every time I was on campus I always felt safe so I feel like
07:48Wilmington in some levels is kind of like holy ground to me not because you're perfect
07:53but you just always made me feel safe you always made me feel like I was at home so becoming a fan of
07:58yours has been a pleasure like I said it's definitely been an adjustment on me and I'm definitely taking
08:04that um journey um solo but I do appreciate just the kindness that Wilmington has always shown
08:13even even for somebody like me who felt like a lot of people in my life just want to throw me away like
08:19a piece of trash and treat me like shit because I did things differently I had different goals I was
08:25on different ways when I had different ideas and different um ways of doing things and I felt like
08:33Hoosier Nation was just nice so I always love and appreciate Wilmington for that just being nice
08:40and yeah that's just my story
08:42I think I'm gonna go ahead and cut it off right here because uh oh yeah
08:56Anywho thanks for watching and I will talk to you guys soon
09:04um
