00:00...to cap off what has been a stunning season in Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
00:07They all know what's on the line, they all know what's at stake.
00:11Are you ready? It's time to bring the action!
00:18Bomair makes a great start on the inside.
00:21So tooters Deegan. Deegan leads them off with the whole shot.
00:25Viala's second.
00:27Hamaker's in the mix.
00:30Oh, I like where Hamaker's at right now, James.
00:33Great start by Tom Viala as well, right there.
00:36This is where the championship is.
00:39Man, if you're Tom Viala, what a move.
00:41He went in there, he played a defensive off that gate.
00:43Went in on the inside, very aggressive.
00:46That's exactly where you want to be at.
00:49Two of the top three in the championship are running right there.
00:53Hamaker Viala threw the warps for the first time.
00:56Where is RJ Hampshire?
00:57Oh.
01:00Those whoops are slick, James.
01:02Did you see that rear end dancing around by Seth Hamaker?
01:05Yeah, and if you're Tom Viala, your biggest friend might be your teammate.
01:11And Julian Vermeer right behind Seth Hamaker has been riding really good all day long.
01:15So maybe he can get up there and get between you two.
01:17I counted this guy out.
01:20I slept on Tom Viala's skills.
01:23Not on his skills, but I was sleeping on him this year.
01:26Really kind of subpar, but he's stuck with it, stuck with it.
01:29Then he has that clutch ride in Pittsburgh and gets the win, asserts himself back into this championship to take the points lead.
01:37And in times like this, look, he gets to start when he needs to get it, and he is leading the people that he needs to lead to win this championship.
01:46Ricky, such a clutch weekend for Tom Viala last week.
01:51And I got to speak to him today and asked him, was there a shift?
01:54Was there anything different?
01:55He said, it was just, I have to win.
01:57There's no more time left.
01:58The nine rounds are coming to an end here, and there's no more time left.
02:02And I said, well, what is that at the end of the season?
02:05He said, well, I'm always used to getting, that's how I ride, I'm used to getting strong at the end of the season.
02:09He's like, but that's 17 rounds of MXGP, I've got nine.
02:11So I've had to make that adjustment, and it's time to go.
02:14The thing about Tom Viala is he doesn't ever appear to get flustered.
02:19He says his calm demeanor, I know I'm a champion, I've got this, just let me get to work and do what I need to do.
02:27And you talk to people, oh, Hammaker messes up in that rhythm lane right there.
02:32And Tom Viala's teammate, Juju Beaumare, going to slip right up the inside.
02:39And this plays right into Tom Viala's hand to have someone, a little buffer in between himself and Seth.
02:47Don't look too far behind, Ricky.
02:48RJ has made a lot of positions.
02:50He was way back off that gate.
02:52He was ninth.
02:53Yeah, and now he's even farther back.
02:55That's what he did when he crossed the checkered flag the first lap.
02:58So now he's on the move, got up into the sixth spot.
03:01Only a couple seconds behind him.
03:03Well, and there's nothing, you know, there's nothing to lose here.
03:06You just got to go absolute full set.
03:08Obviously, you want to stay safe, but all the guys are in front of him.
03:11So he has nothing to protect at this point.
03:14Nate Thrasher is the next one on his list on the left-hand side of his screen
03:17aboard the Monster Energy Star Yamaha.
03:20And see if Hampshire can keep that forward progress.
03:23Yeah, no, RJ looks good.
03:24He looks aggressive.
03:25And we're going back to that LCQ.
03:27This is where it probably helps him at because those guys,
03:29it's been a couple hours since, you know,
03:31Tom Bial and Seth Hammaker have been on the track.
03:33RJ just got off of it.
03:34So he's really comfortable for him.
03:37He's got to keep going.
03:38So at the moment, Tom Bial would win back-to-back 250 East Division Championships
03:44by five points over Seth Hammaker.
03:48But the interesting thing here is, what does Beaumare do?
03:51Does Beaumare go and take points away from his teammates
03:53or does he just stay where he is?
03:55I say he stays where he is right now.
03:59Yeah, it's going to be hard for Julian,
04:01especially if Tom starts coming back.
04:03Oh!
04:04He starts coming up to him.
04:05That was close by Tom.
04:06He got out of his rhythm there.
04:08He just barely overjumped that.
04:10Oh, here we go.
04:10We're going to find out.
04:12It looks like Julian's trying to.
04:14Yeah, just got a better run than his teammate Tom going through the whoops.
04:18And when you watch him, he's a little bit farther back on the bike compared to Tom.
04:21That was a really close call by Tom Bial.
04:24He overjumped the tabletop.
04:28But that was a nice save when he went to go on the tabletop
04:32and bounce over that single.
04:33He just overjumped that tabletop too much.
04:36JT.
04:37Right.
04:37I'm thinking about will Beaumare make the pass.
04:40I think he will, and I'll tell you why.
04:41It doesn't change the map.
04:43If Bial beats the other two riders, it's over.
04:45And I think in this situation, it may actually help Bial.
04:48If Bial can get by because he clearly has more speed,
04:51Bial may be able to absorb some speed and go with him versus pushing him forward.
04:56So I think for Bial, I spoke to him in that heat race,
04:58and he said, I'm here to win.
05:00I don't care who's in what position.
05:01I think similar to Hayden Deegan, I would expect him to make a pass very, very quickly here.
05:06James, I don't know if you're seeing what I'm seeing, but I love RJ right now.
05:11He's got the two guys in front of him.
05:14He can see it.
05:15He's got a line in him.
05:16And you could just tell, like, I just feel like he's riding with that determination a lot like he has all season long,
05:23especially here last year when he was racing against Levi Kitchen for that championship.
05:30Yeah, no, absolutely.
05:31And the time that he hasn't lost to those guys by making a pass is going to give him a lot of confidence
05:35because he was way back off that start.
05:37So, yeah, this race is going to tighten up, and that 24 is going to go.
05:41I love this line by Julian.
05:43He's probably going to make this pass on his teammate right here through the whoops.
05:46There he is.
05:47Coming into shot.
05:48Hampshire there just came into that camera shot.
05:52Meanwhile, the two Red Bull KTM teammates still going at it here.
05:55Second and third.
05:56Deegan leads by almost six seconds.
06:00Honestly, if I was Bial, this would be super irritating for me if my teammate was all over me like this.
06:05Here we go.
06:11Yeah, Tom's starting to slow both of them up, and as I was mentioning, Julian might go around him.
06:16I agree with JT.
06:17He's probably just going to make the pass.
06:19There it is.
06:19There you go.
06:21Bomer up to second.
06:24Oh, this is going to slow up, Tom.
06:26That actually slowed up because he had to slow down to let Bomer go by the inside, and then now look.
06:32It's brought Hamaker back into the conversation, and it's brought RJ Hampshire closer again.
06:38So the championship three are running third, fourth, and fifth.
06:42Three-way battle right now.
06:45Better watch that inside.
06:4616 weeks ago.
06:48Would you have imagined where we would be at right now?
06:52The East Division has been an incredible series.
06:55Seven winners.
06:57Think about what Seth Hamaker said on the podium earlier tonight.
07:01He had that look in his eye, and he said, I want this bad.
07:04I want it really bad.
07:06Here comes the Kawasaki rider on the inside of Bial.
07:09Not quite close enough.
07:10He's got him, though.
07:12He has the speed.
07:13Hamaker puts it to Bial.
07:16Yeah.
07:16And the Monster Energy Pro second Kawasaki is ahead.
07:20Yeah, I saw that one coming, and I think it's because, you know, Seth was losing some time,
07:24and Tom was able to get around him.
07:26So when you're in that spot, sometimes you just got to go in and try to slow that guy down.
07:30And again, Ricky, it's for the championship.
07:32Yeah.
07:32Let's see what happens, and there's that number 24.
07:35And this could be demoralizing sometimes, you know, when you get caught, you get passed,
07:41and then now Hamaker's putting time on Tom.
07:44That can mess with your psyche a little bit and disrupt what momentum you had going.
07:50Again, still a lot of racing left.
07:52He's going to regroup.
07:53He's going to regroup.
07:55Here it is again.
07:56Yeah, perfect pass right here by Seth Hamaker.
07:59Sneaks up the inside.
08:01Tom senses it.
08:02Hamaker, yeah, that was a really good pass.
08:08Oh, boy.
08:10Yeah.
08:11Ooh, and there it's 24.
08:13Quick reminder, the stock up on Monster Energy drinks at Smith's.
08:16We are into the second half of this final race of the Supercross portion of the SMX World Championship.
08:24And look at this.
08:26After having to go through the last chance qualifier, R.J. Hamshire is not giving up.
08:32No, he's not.
08:34He can still win this title.
08:36Going to be interesting to see if R.J. will be able to get by Tom quick and not get held up.
08:41Because that will be key because he doesn't want the gap from Vial to Hamaker to build anymore.
08:47It's going to be tough to get up to Hamaker if he builds out too much of a lead.
08:51Yeah, R.J. might make it look awkward for the practice because these guys ride together during the week.
08:57There it again.
08:57Vial made a mistake.
08:59Here comes Hamshire with a massive leap past the Frenchman.
09:03Way to turn down early to protect that line, right, James?
09:07Yeah, absolutely.
09:08And now the race is on.
09:09And he actually didn't lose too much time to – oh, it was a lap rotter.
09:13He actually did lose a little bit more time.
09:15But the way R.J. has been rotting, you know he's going to run it all up to the end.
09:19Six minutes plus a lap.
09:21Is that enough for Hamshire to catch Hamaker and get by him?
09:25Oh, yeah, it is.
09:27It's going to come down to speed.
09:28Maybe R.J. will get a little bit of help from some lappers.
09:31But here is the pass, James.
09:33Yeah, he goes up the inside.
09:35And then, yeah, it looks like Tom's going to try to slow down again.
09:38R.J. had nothing to do with that.
09:39And that was a nice move.
09:41And he knew he had to because it's only five and a half minutes left.
09:44He's got to go after that number 56, the F.M. Maker.
09:49It's a good comparison here between Hamaker and Hamshire.
09:52They lost three laps.
09:53Yeah, pretty close.
09:55The last lap, Seth had a 48.2.
09:58He's the fastest guy on the track.
10:00R.J. had a 48.9.
10:02But remember, he was battling.
10:03He was in traffic.
10:04So this lap will be interesting to see what the times look like.
10:08Yeah, R.J. is hard.
10:09And R.J. was faster by a tenth.
10:12Yeah, man, that gap's probably going to close in
10:14because now Seth knows the 24 is behind him.
10:17Might start riding behind him a little bit.
10:19That's obviously going to slow him down.
10:20But, man, what a ride from all three of these guys.
10:24All these guys performing at the best.
10:28Hey, look at this.
10:29Look at how much Hamaker has caught by man.
10:32Well, this could be very similar to what I said about R.J.
10:35James, if Seth gets hung up behind Beaumair,
10:39that's actually going to slow him down a little bit
10:42and allow R.J. to catch up.
10:44Yeah, I agree.
10:48We haven't forgotten about the race leader.
10:51Hayden Deegan is a monstrous seven and a half seconds out in front,
10:55but he's already won his championship.
10:57The East Division title is still at play.
10:59He's riding free, man.
11:01He's riding free right here tonight.
11:06Traffic coming into play as well.
11:08Four minutes plus a lap left on the clock.
11:12Going to be important for Seth to try to time these passes out
11:17by these lappers the best that he can to not get past.
11:20or lose time, pardon me.
11:28Through the whoops one more time.
11:30It's getting super close now.
11:32Hamaker, does he execute a move on Beaumair?
11:36He's going to get him.
11:39Seth looks really good right now,
11:41able to move around on the track.
11:43I'm noticing James like he can put his bike anywhere.
11:45Yeah, no, he does.
11:46And I wondered, like, Juju definitely not riding the way he was earlier.
11:51So kind of lagging.
11:52You wonder if that's a part of the teammate things
11:55or just the way it is.
11:56But Seth's got to get around him for sure.
11:58Oh, he's driving.
11:59Driving through the jump faces a lot better than Juju.
12:03Beaumair knew that he was there.
12:05Had a quick look over.
12:06Hamaker clears him.
12:07Oh, no!
12:08Beaumair comes back!
12:10And Hamaker almost goes down!
12:13That's what I was just saying, Ricky.
12:14The way Juju was riding, it was like he was slowing down.
12:17And that move right there,
12:19that's not going to sit well for number 56.
12:22Nah, that's...
12:24I hate to see that.
12:25Let these guys race it out.
12:27He looks over, lets him go by, squares him up.
12:31He's going to go up the inside,
12:32very similar to how Seth got by Beaumair.
12:35And that was an incredible save by Seth.
12:37That was crazy.
12:39Great, great save.
12:43That could turn out to be the save of his career
12:45if he does go on to win this title.
12:49But it is far from over.
12:50Hampshire is not done with yet.
12:54Yeah, so now if your Hamaker, it's confusing.
12:57Oh, a little payback there!
12:59Hamaker comes back and says to Juju,
13:00I can do the same to you as well!
13:04Yeah, that was a...
13:05There you go.
13:05Now he allows our...
13:07There you are.
13:07And this pass would do a lot,
13:10but he's going to need a little bit more help than that.
13:14He will.
13:14If RJ gets by Hamaker,
13:16that does not guarantee Hampshire the title.
13:19What a move!
13:20Oh, they both go down!
13:23Oh my goodness!
13:24Where is Vial?
13:26There he goes.
13:26There's Vial to get the free pass straight through!
13:30Are you kidding me?
13:34Oh, man!
13:36Okay.
13:37And the championship pendulum
13:39swings massively back to Tom Vial.
13:44Seth was able to get up.
13:46He's not too far behind Tom Vial,
13:48but that's exactly how the East Coast...
13:50This East championship has been.
13:52Just what you think you know.
13:54Oh, they have no time left.
13:56Watch RJ set him up.
13:58Comes up the inside.
14:00Goes to take him down.
14:01And the worst thing you can do, James,
14:03you know it is when you're going to go for a move like that.
14:05You can't take yourself out also.
14:09And it's over for RJ from a championship standpoint.
14:13Yeah.
14:13For the most part.
14:14Tom's got three laps.
14:15You better start focusing,
14:17because Seth Hamaker's right behind him still.
14:19Oh, boy.
14:21He was able to pick up, re-groom,
14:23and there's plenty of anger and frustration inside that helmet.
14:29This is where Seth Hamaker needs to go old school
14:32and just full-on send it, James.
14:35Less than a minute plus a lap to go.
14:38Hamaker on the inside,
14:41fully driven in championship mode,
14:43and for about the tenth time,
14:45we say this is not over.
14:48It's definitely not.
14:48Listen to this crowd.
14:50They're into it.
14:54A massive save after a collision with Beaumare,
14:58a crash with Hampshire,
15:00and still in contention for this fight.
15:03Can Beaumare do something miraculous
15:06and defend his title,
15:08or does Hamaker make the ultimate comeback
15:11and get the Red Bull KTM rider?
15:14Beaumare had a really good lap right there.
15:17He's got two laps left.
15:18Yeah, he was three tenths quicker that lap,
15:21and that might be just what the doctor ordered.
15:24He's got to keep charging, though.
15:30Keeping the gap the same.
15:31Got to make sure that he can execute this rhythm lane.
15:36Remember, this is where he got passed
15:38by making a mistake earlier on in the race.
15:41Does it well.
15:43And don't forget,
15:44he's got his teammate right in front of him,
15:45so Julian's only a couple seconds in front,
15:49so he might have a buffer,
15:50but yeah, I'm in shock, Ricky.
15:54Yeah, I mean,
15:55this gap may be just too much
15:58for Seth Hamaker to make up,
15:59which is music to Tom Villar's ears.
16:03Well, I can tell you what.
16:06Outside of everything,
16:07Seth Hamaker cannot be,
16:09if you look at the big picture,
16:10he cannot be disappointed in the season he's had.
16:13Well, and nor can this guy here.
16:15Hayden Deegan, the 19-year-old,
16:18will pick up his fourth win on the year
16:21to win the last two races of the year.
16:24He's having a look around.
16:25Meanwhile, Hamaker looked like he had bridged that gap
16:28to the one of Tom Villar.
16:31Oh, he's coming up in the warp section too.
16:33Check it is out.
16:35Deegan wins it.
16:37But the championship fight is on.
16:39Tom Villar successfully defends
16:46his 250 East Division title.
16:49The Frenchman has done it.
16:52Hamaker has heartbreak.
16:54Hamshire threw everything he could at it.
16:57But it's Tom Villar's night.
16:59The Frenchman has done it.
