00:15of the nation. According to the CP Agbonica, before he resumed office in Edo State,

00:22he was specifically briefed by the Inspector General of Police and the Chairman of the

00:26Police Service Commission on Security Challenges of Secret Cult Activities and Kidnapping Peculiar

00:31to the State. In quote, CP Agbonica said, Distinguished gentlemen of the press, as you are all aware,

00:39I assumed duty on Tuesday 8 April 2025 as the 50th Commissioner of Police. I was fully briefed by

00:47the Chairman, Police Service Commission, Dig Hashimu Salihu Agungu Retired, MNI, PSC, NPM and

00:56the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kiyode Adeolu Egbetokan, PhD, NPM on the security challenges

01:04peculiar to the state such as cultism and kidnapping. It was very clear that community inclusivity,

01:10and collaboration with both state and non-state actors was the way to go. Suspects arrested,

01:161, 95, 95, suspected cultists. 2, 12, 12, suspected kidnappers. 3, 5, 5, suspected armed robbers.

01:29Number of persons rescued, 1, 37, 37, rescued kidnapped victims. While most of the cases have

01:37been charged to court, some are under investigation. Barely two days of my assumption of duty,

01:44I hit the ground running by visiting the north and central senatorial zones of the state to see for

01:49myself all the identified flashpoints with prevalence of kidnapping and other heinous crimes,

01:55and immediately engaged critical stakeholders to map out proactive strategies to curb these

02:00challenges in the BAD. These strategies which are being reviewed from time to time have yielded

02:05considerable results even though it is not yet a guru. I want to share with you the account of my

02:11stewardship in the past 30, 30, days. We shall sustain engagement with communities, bushcombing

02:19operations across area commands and divisions, intelligence-led raids of flashpoints and high

02:24visibility policing amongst many other strategies with a view to preventing crimes and maintain law and

02:30order in the state. On this note, I wish to express the command's appreciation to the Inspector General of

02:37Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokan, PhD, NPM for his guidance. We also appreciate His Excellency,

02:45the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Munday Okpebholo for his unflinching support.

02:52While soliciting the continued support of the law-abiding people of the state who have been

02:57trusting us with valuable information that has helped us in achieving this feat, I encourage all

03:02stakeholders to continue cooperating with the police as we strive to surmount the security challenges

03:07experienced in the state. Our collaborative and proactive strategies have led to the rescue of 37,

03:1437, kidnapped victims in daring operations which involve technical intelligence. The officers and men have

03:22worked tirelessly over these days, leading to the recovery of 25, 25, firearms including 2, 2,

03:30AK-47 rifles, 130 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 135 live cartridges, as well as the recovery of 4,

03:414, stolen, robbed vehicles. Summary of the achievements recorded in past one month is as follows.

05:14stated during the press briefing held at the Edo State Police Command headquarters during

05:20We have reported that the Edo State Police Command of Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the

05:25arrest of 95 persons in connection with the killing of more than 15 people between April

05:3125, 2025 and now in the renewed deadly and bloody apparent supremacy secret cult war in

05:37the state among members of the Black Axe Confraternity aka Ea, Mafite Confraternity aka Great Men and

05:45Ia Confraternity aka Ernest which started with the killing of a physiotherapist, simply identified

05:51as Alex, and another individual at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH Backgate,

05:58UBBOO, in Benin, with the Edo State Government led by Governor Munday Okpebholo launching a

06:04retaliatory war against businesses and individuals allegedly aiding secret cult killings in the

06:10state.

06:11Thus, sealed off Eterno Hotel, planned to demolish the hotel owed by People's Democratic Party,

06:18PDP Chieftain, Honorable Matthew Ida Ikeman, who was the Director General of Aswan, Ogie

06:24Campaign Organization in the last governorship election in the state, on the ground that

06:29a particular secret cult group members gathered at the Eterno Hotel to plan their recent killings

06:35in the state, and in addition, the Edo State Governor also sealed off and marked a residential

06:40building for demolition also owned by a PDP chieftain, Francis Anegbeneke.
