Edo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the killing of one person
00:05
at Yulu-K community, Atuzirue clan, near Yamo, the hometown of Edo State former governor and
00:12
the current senator representing Edo North at the Nigeria National Assembly, Comrade Adams
00:17
Oshionhole, when armed men invaded the community on Monday, kidnapping a woman and her sister,
00:23
after shooting the woman's husband at the scene of the invasion. According to the police,
00:28
a combined team of police and men of the Edo State vigilante went after the kidnappers,
00:34
and succeeded in rescuing the woman and her sister on Friday but the husband was pronounced dead after
00:39
he was rushed to the hospital. Yulu-K is one of the 21 villages or towns that made up Uzirue clan which
00:46
includes Jatu, Afawa, Alele, Ogbido, Ayukana, Ayua, Ayuku, Imheke, Afashio, Ayura, Apana, Imhonike,
00:57
Yelwa, Oza, Ikibigbo, Adato, Ubena, Arekpi, Ayagwiri and Ayamo, where Adams Oshionhole hails from.

Statement from the Edo State Police Command reads verbatim in quote below.
01:12
The Edo State Police Command has rescued another two kidnapped victims on the 18th of April 2025
01:18
at about 21-15 hours demonstrating its commitment to tackle criminality in the state.
01:24
This is further to a case which was reported on the 14th of April 2025 at the divisional police
01:30
headquarters, Ayamo, where a woman and her sister were kidnapped after shooting and fatally wounding
01:36
the woman's husband at Yulu-Oak community. The injured man was rushed to the hospital,
01:41
where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty. In a swift response, the DPO,
01:48
anti-kidnapping team stationed at Edo North, and Operation Rescue in company of vigilantes,
01:54
hunters mobilized and went after the kidnappers in order to rescue the victims and arrest the
01:58
kidnappers. The resilience and determination of the operatives led to the rescue of the two women,
02:04
namely, Esther Friday 32 years and Joya Regbe in 23 years whom the kidnappers abandoned and ran away
02:12
because of the mounting pressure by the security teams. Unfortunately, the kidnappers shot one of
02:18
the women on the foot out of frustration, but she is currently responding to treatment.
02:23
Meanwhile, the indefatigable Commissioner of Police, CP Munday Agbonica, is working assiduously
02:30
on strategies that would curb further crime and deter criminals, the police stated as contained
02:35
in the news release signed and made available by the command public relations officer, Moses Yamu on
02:41
Saturday. In a related development, the police command has rescued 10 kidnapped victims who were
02:48
students traveling to Babcock University for an annual program. The command wishes to update the
02:54
general public of the unfortunate kidnap of some students who were on their way to Babcock University
02:59
for annual GYC Africa Conference on 16 April 2025 at a location bordering Edo and Ondo states.
03:08
On receipt of this information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Munday Agbonica, immediately deployed
03:15
operatives of the OHSU Division, IRT, tactical teams alongside vigilantes and hunters into the bushes
03:22
for possible rescue of the victims and arrest of suspects. During the operation, operatives engaged in a gun
03:29
duel with these kidnappers. In the process, one of the kidnappers was neutralized, while others escaped
03:36
with bullet wounds. The operatives were cautious to avoid collateral damages as the kidnappers used
03:42
the victims as human shield. Unfortunately, an inspector of police sustained gunshot injury and is
03:48
currently responding to treatment. This rescue effort eventually paid off as the 10 kidnapped students
03:55
comprising eight male and female were released due to intense pressure mounted on them. In a related
04:00
development, two suspects, namely Binagolo Eberman 25 years and Matthew Denway 27 years were arrested
04:08
following a distress call that they robbed their victim of his motorcycle and his phones at Malim Camp
04:15
Bellaboo community in Ovia Southwest local government area. Preliminary investigation revealed that these
04:21
suspects who were arrested with a locally fabricated pistol and two headlamps as well as the motorcycle
04:27
earlier robbed, have been terrorizing farmers and commuters in that axis of the state. The suspects have
04:33
confessed to the crime and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
04:39
C.P. Agbonica uses the medium to warn all miscreants in the state that there's no hiding place for them.
04:45
They either repent, relocate from his area of responsibility, or face the consequences.
04:51
He further reassures the good people of the state to shun crime and report suspicious persons,
04:57
movement, or objects to the police, Moses Yamu stated.
