Donald Trump Asked About Foreign Film Tariffs At UK-US Trade Deal Briefing

At a press event on Thursday to announce a trade deal with the UK, President Trump was asked about foreign film tariffs.

00:07because now Aston Martins will be available to America.

00:12It would be even better by extending it to film.

00:14I mean, you've talked about a big tariff on films,

00:17and we'd like to know if there would be a relief on the British.

00:19Well, we're going to have a discussion on that separately,

00:22and, as you know, we're putting tariffs on that particular film,

00:26like I said, the movie makers, and we're going to be doing some tariffs to get them

00:32because a lot of them have left this country.

00:35They all live here.

00:36The money comes from here.

00:37Everything comes from here, but they make them in other countries.

00:40So we're going to do something to bring them back, maybe to a large extent.

00:45But James Bond has nothing to worry about that, I can tell you, James Bond.

00:49And, you know, Sean Connery was a friend of mine.

00:52Sean Connery was responsible for my getting zoning in Aberdeen.

00:55He said, let the bloody bloke build his golf courses.

01:00I was, like, four years into the process, and it was impossible in Aberdeen.

01:05And he, I don't know, he just stood up one day and he said that.

01:08As soon as he said that, I got the approvals in about two minutes.

01:11So he had great — he was a great guy, Sean Connery, and a great character.

01:21We have a lot of investment over there.

01:23We have Turnberry, Aberdeen.

01:25We have, as you know, in Dunebeg, in Ireland, right on the ocean.

01:30I only have interest if they're on the ocean.

01:32And we have — we have good investments over there.
