Hello, mom, y'all.
00:30
Hello, mom, I'll just get something to eat for you.
01:00
Hello, mom, I'll just get something to eat for you.
01:30
Hello, mom, I'll just get something to eat for you.
01:59
Hello, mom, I'll just get something to eat for you.
02:03
Age shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
02:08
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
02:13
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
02:19
We will remember them.
02:21
We will remember them.
02:25
We will remember them.
04:39
I would like to invite the Mayor to lay the reef on behalf of the people of the town.
05:34
If there's anybody else that has a reef that they would like to lay, would you do that
05:44
now, please?
07:01
who came home, wounded physically and mentally, and the friends and family who cared for them.
07:12
Let us remember those who returned to restore their relationships and rebuild their working and family lives
07:22
after years of conflict and turmoil.
07:28
Let us remember the families that lost husbands, wives, sons, daughters and sweethearts.
07:38
Let us remember the servicemen and women of other nationalities and other states
07:45
from the Commonwealth and allied countries who fought, suffered and died during six years of war.
07:57
Let us remember those in reserved occupations and the brave people who kept us safe on the home front,
08:07
the doctors, nurses who cared for the wounded, the men and women who toiled in the fields,
08:17
the fishermen who fished the seas, those who worked in factories and air raid wardens, police officers, firemen, ambulance drivers,
08:31
and the young people of the scouts and guides who played such a vital role in the war effort at home too.
08:41
And finally, we remember those named on the memorial here in the heart of our town.
08:51
God save the king.
08:53
God save the king.
08:54
God save the king.
08:55
God save the king.
08:56
So let us pray.
08:58
O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those men and women who have died in active service,
09:08
particularly in the Second World War, who sacrificed for victory in Europe.
09:15
As we honour their courage and cherish their memory, may we put our faith in your future,
09:22
for you are the source of life and hope, now and for ever.
09:27
Amen.
09:28
We pray for nations still devastated by war, for their people and their leaders,
09:36
and for those who suffer the effects or memories of past wars, for veterans, for those who mourn,
09:44
and for all innocent victims whose lives have been shattered by the cruelty of others.
09:50
Let us give thanks to those who work for peace and liberty throughout the world.
09:57
And so we ask for God's blessing.
10:00
God grant to the living race, to the departed rest, to the church, the king, the commonwealth,
10:09
and all people, peace and comfort, and to us and all his servants, life everlasting.
10:18
And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be upon you and remain with you always.
10:27
Amen.
10:29
Thank you one and all for your attendance this morning.
10:48
This is our tribute.
10:51
We had a tea party here on Monday.
10:59
Memorials will continue.
11:01
The church bells will ring this evening from St. Mary Matthew's church tower.
11:06
And the fire beacons, part of the national chain of fire beacons, will be lit to Windmill this evening at 9.30.
11:14
So there are still events happening.
11:16
But especially this morning, we thank you for your attendance.
11:21
Thank you very much.
