At today's House Republican leadership press briefing, Speaker Johnson discused using the budget reconciliation to kick illegal immigrants off Medicaid.

00:00Speaker Johnson, how do you use reconciliation to remove illegal immigrants from Medicaid,

00:06and how do you confidently estimate the savings from that?

00:09Well, it's not my estimation. I mean, these numbers come from the CBO and very credible

00:13sources. We have a pretty accurate count, we think, of how many are on the rolls in some of

00:18these states, and now we have a tabulation of what it will save the taxpayers to kick them off.

00:23And as I mentioned, I mean, public polling is squarely on our side on this. I mean,

00:26you cannot have an open doormat, you can't have an open border. Thankfully, President Trump has

00:31closed it now. But for four years, it was wide open, and we sent the message to everybody around

00:35the world, come here and you can get on the taxpayer's wagon. And that's just not, it's not

00:40right, it's not lawful, it's not morally correct. And we're going to fix it in reconciliation. So

00:46stay tuned. There'll be a lot of savings for the American people, and I think it'll be wildly

00:49popular when we get it done.
