Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party is reiterating its calls to include a US$3 billion subsidy for state energy utility Taipower in its proposed special budget for U.S. tariff relief. But opposition parties say Taipower has operated for years under losses despite government support and that the funds are unnecessary.
