During remarks on the Senate floor Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spoke about President Trump saying he did not know if it was his duty to uphold the Constitution as the President.

00:00Yesterday, Donald Trump was asked the easiest question in the world for a president.

00:04He was asked, don't you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States?

00:10Donald Trump's answer? I don't know. It's appalling.

00:14He doesn't know if he's supposed to uphold the Constitution. He swore an oath to that effect.

00:18He might have forgotten that.

00:21It's hard to imagine something more un-American than Donald Trump, the sitting president,

00:26saying he doesn't know whether he needs to uphold the Constitution.

00:30As I mentioned, just over 100 days ago, he raised his right hand, swore in front of the nation

00:34to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

00:37But no president has done more to disregard the Constitution and buck the rule of law than Donald Trump.

00:43And now he plainly admits it, almost proudly.

00:53to all forms of guardrails and accountability, who doesn't want to hear any dissent.

00:58Well, the Constitution is the ultimate guardrail, and Donald Trump thinks he doesn't need to obey it.

01:29Donald Trump is putting our Constitution through the shredder, and Senate Republicans are totally silent.

01:36They're watching the Constitution be ripped up.

01:39They say nothing.

01:41Ten years ago, Republicans would have been up in arms, up in arms over the idea of a sitting president

01:47saying he doesn't know whether he needs to uphold the Constitution.

01:51Even a year ago, Republicans would have been up in arms had President Biden said,

01:56I don't know if he should follow the Constitution.

01:59So where?

02:00Where's the outrage from my Republican colleagues today?

02:04This much is clear.

02:07You cannot be loyal to both Donald Trump and the Constitution.

02:12The two are like oil and water.

02:14The American people deserve to know where Republicans stand, with the Constitution,

02:18or with Donald Trump as he rips it to shreds.
