00:00It was recognized. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to condemn this administration's harmful and

00:06illegal efforts to gut the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Let's be clear, this is a

00:13direct attack on rural families, veterans, caregivers, and children, including thousands

00:18of Delawareans who rely on local libraries not just for books, but for help with job applications,

00:24disability forms, and housing assistance. In Dover, librarians are helping my neighbors

00:29navigate Social Security delays. In Lewis, they're supporting unhoused job seekers. In Harrington,

00:35they're guiding caregivers through pages of red tape just to access basic support.

00:39This isn't just morally wrong. It's a violation of the law. Congress appropriated these funds.

00:46The administration is not only defunding vital community programs, it's defying the will of

00:51the American people. With just $1.93 million a year, Delaware libraries are able to preserve our

00:57history, strengthen our workforce, and meet people where they are to deliver critical services.

01:03Cutting this lifeline isn't efficiency. It's cruelty. I urge the administration to reverse course,

01:09and I stand with my colleagues in demanding full funding for the services our communities need

01:13and deserve. I yield back my time.
