Trump Casts Doubt On Separation Of Church And State: 'Is That A Good Thing Or A Bad Thing?'

In remarks at a National Day of Prayer event at the White House, President Trump questioned the separation of church and state.

00:09And we had like a 94% poll number, and I think Paula got it more than I got it.

00:17She's saying, no, I'm telling you, he's a good person.

00:21I'm telling you, he's done more for us than anybody.

00:25And she got us up to about 94%.

00:28And my old friends, they couldn't believe that I got that kind of a number.

00:32You understand.

00:34But you have done a great job, and Jenny Korn has done an unbelievable job.

00:43And, you know, they work right out of the White House.

00:45They've never done that.

00:45That's never been done before.

00:47No other president allowed that.

00:48I think, you know, they say separation.

00:51They say separation between church and state, they told me.

00:55I said, all right, let's forget about that for one time.

00:58We said, really, there's separation?

01:01I don't know.

01:01Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

01:03I'm not sure.

01:04But whether there's separation or not, you guys are in the White House where you should

01:08be, and you're representing our country, and we're bringing religion back to our country.

01:14And it's a big deal.

01:18And I want to say hello, John, the most talented man standing here today.

01:22He's one of the most successful artists.

01:26And his song is one of the most favored by people of religion.

01:31That I can tell you, John, you've done a great job.

01:34I always say he's the husband of Paula White, but actually he's very successful.

01:37So that's always tough to live with, right, John?

01:40But not really, because you have an incredible wife that you're proud of, right?
