During a press briefing on Thursday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was asked if he supports Democratic lawmakers going to El Salvador to demand the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia after he was wrongfully deported by the Trump administration.
Transcript
00:00Mr. Leader, can you just clarify your position with a simple yes or no?
00:05Do you support your members going to El Salvador,
00:09particularly in terms of the situation involving Kilmar Abrego Garcia?
00:13Just yes or no?
00:14Support what members? The members that went?
00:16I've had nothing.
00:16Any Democratic member going.
00:18Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it in terms of the report
00:25that alleged that members of House Democratic leadership
00:28had some phantom conversation with either the members who took a trip to El Salvador
00:35or any other members, that is a complete and total fabrication.
00:40The only statement that was made to members who went to El Salvador was,
00:48welcome back. We are glad you have returned safely.
