00:00The gentlewoman from California seek recognition.
00:03United States has had to address the House for one minute and to amend and revive my comments.
00:09Without objection, the gentleman was recognized for one minute.
00:12Mr. Speaker, I rise today to reflect on the 100th day of Donald Trump's second term as president.
00:21While some of my colleagues celebrate his actions, I am reminded why I first ran for office
00:27and why I continue fighting for my community.
00:31I was raised to believe that the United States of America was built on the principles of liberty, democracy, and equal opportunity.
00:42For more than two centuries, those ideals have guided us, creating a nation where everyone has the right to pursue their dreams,
00:51serve their communities, and have a voice in their government without reprisals.
00:58But today, we are witnessing some deeply troubling and erosion of the rule of law,
01:05the abandonment of democracy norms, and the betrayal of the very values Americans of all backgrounds have long fought to uphold.
01:14On this 100th day of the 119th Congress, I stand in firm in my belief that I, too, am an American.
01:26I, too, am a patriot.
01:28I, too, will continue to defend the values and principles that made this country a beacon of hope for the world.
01:37For what purposes does the gentleman from Georgia seek recognition?
