00:00Seven days out from polling day, Liberal leader Peter Dutton is here in far north Queensland
00:07in the seat of Leichhardt with his candidate Jeremy Neill. He spent the morning at a breakfast
00:13with Liberal supporters and now has attended this construction site. Peter Dutton says the
00:19seat of Leichhardt, which includes here in Cairns, is a critical electorate for the coalition to
00:25maintain next weekend. It's currently held by LNP member Warren Ench. He's held the seat for the
00:32greater part of 30 years but is retiring at this election. Labor is targeting the seat though and
00:38hopes to pick it up. Now Peter Dutton during his press conference a little earlier said he thought
00:44that the election would be decided in the next seven days so he's hoping to win over as many
00:48undecided voters as possible. I did ask him about climate change though because here in the electorate
00:55of Leichhardt in far north Queensland, of course the Great Barrier Reef isn't far away. This is how
01:01he responded to reducing climate emissions. He said that the coalition would seek to do that through
01:08introducing nuclear power and would seek to get to net zero by 2050 but he didn't name policies aside
01:15from that which would see climate emissions reduce or carbon emissions reduce in the next decade.
01:21Well we've said in relation to our policy that we'll announce our targets once we get into government
01:28get the advice from the agencies but if you're concerned about the environment, you're concerned
01:33about climate then your only choice at this election is to vote for the coalition because
01:38Anthony Albanese has a plan that has failed. We're now talking about blackouts and brownouts in our
01:43country. Power bills haven't come down by $275. They've gone up by $1,300. That's the reality.
01:49He was standing alongside LNP candidate Jeremy Neal and he was asked about some former tweets that he
01:56made about things like feminists were the ones who kicked out Donald Trump from office in America.
02:04He said that in recent weeks and months his opinion on Donald Trump has changed because
02:09of how hard those tariffs on beef and aluminium and steel have impacted on locals here in far north Queensland.
02:19He said that he's going to be a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of
