00:00Peter Dutton is picking up the pace in the final week of the election campaign, holding
00:10a rally here in the once safe Labor held seat of Hawke. Surrounded by opposition front
00:16benches including Jane Hume, Dan Tee and Sarah Henderson as well as Victorian Liberal leader
00:22Brad Batten.
00:23Is anyone feeling that you're better off today than you were three years ago?
00:27Speaking to the party faithful, he hid the same themes around the cost of living, power
00:32prices and Labor's promise to cut power bills. Mr Dutton also tried to tie Anthony Albanese
00:38to the state government, namely Victorian Premier Jacinta Allen, in an effort to try and capitalise
00:45on what the coalition thinks is deep dissatisfaction with the Victorian government. He also took
00:51aim at the media coverage of his campaign.
00:53Forget about what you're being told by the ABC and the Guardian and the other hate media.
00:58Forget about that. Listen to what you're hearing on the doors. Listen to what people are saying
01:03on pre-polling. Know in your hearts that we are a better future for our country. Know that
01:08we stand up for the values that are important more than ever for families and for small businesses.
01:13If we stay true to our values, if we have the strength of leadership, if we have the ability
01:18to be truthful with the Australian public, to stand up and to fight for what we believe
01:22in, to deliver our vision, to make Australians better off without petrol cut, without $1,200
01:30back, to make sure that they can buy a home. That is so important to us. Once we convey that
01:36message, by election night, 6pm, we will have won this election.
01:41Clearly the coalition is trying to project a sense of momentum and hype as it prepares
01:46to campaign in up to 28 key seats, which Peter Dutton described as once thought unwinnable
01:54for the Liberal Party. Now later today we know that the opposition leader will be heading
01:58to Sydney as he prepares for the fourth and final leaders' debate of the campaign.
