JP believes the Commanders front office feels much more at ease in this year's NFL Draft after picking near the top in previous drafts.

00:00The pressure last year with the second overall pick, to be correct, was immense.

00:07I honestly don't think it was a very hard decision.

00:10There were those that liked other options.

00:12I thought it was Jaden all day.

00:14They took Jaden all day.

00:15It wasn't very difficult.

00:18Honestly, over the years for the commanders and the football team

00:22and the Redskins as their predecessor,

00:24there has been real pressure to nail the first-round pick

00:27because you're coming off down seasons or you're picking eighth

00:30or you're picking 13th, but at 29B, it's so wide open

00:36that who the hell knows what's going to happen

00:38because it's going to be dictated by 28 picks in front of you.

00:41Yeah, it's wide open, but still, the person you pick

00:45needs to be able to fit in with your squad

00:47because I think we have picks up top so much

00:51we don't understand about picking at the back.

00:54And you know who's picked like that?

00:55The Chiefs, Philly, the Ravens.

00:59You know, teams that, but you notice what they do

01:02when they bring a person in that's a 28, 29 pick.

01:05They end up hitting and the guy comes out

01:07and he's very productive.

01:09I think the pressure may be off

01:11because you're not looking for that one guy,

01:14but still the pressure is on to make sure you get somebody

01:17that comes in and fits, that can hit the ground running

01:20and have some type of impact immediately.

01:23Absolutely, and I think that's the goal.

01:27My personal goal is to find a pen,

01:29but I think the goal with really, thank you,

01:32with really good teams is,

01:36you think about the Ravens, I think,

01:38are a really good example of this,

01:39but I'd add the Packers, and like you said,

01:41the Chiefs, the Eagles,

01:43these teams that are perennial contenders,

01:46yes, they have a quarterback that solves a lot of things,

01:51but...

01:53they hit on their draft picks.

01:57Whether a guy's a pro bowler

01:59or just a good player for them,

02:01they hit on those draft picks,

02:02and I think that's what Washington has to do.
