"Those tornadoes were REAL!"

00:00uh today uh it was i guess 25 years ago today or recently within the last week or so i think

00:09it's today it's a magical day or at least a magical time you can sort of feel it in the air

00:14yeah you even look outside the trees are swaying i think in honor of the fact that it is the 25th

00:19anniversary of the movie twister yeah a legendary film oh my god legendary horrible film i remember

00:27looking forward to go and say i took my mom she was visiting in town and i took her to go see the

00:33movie and the main read the the big hook were the effects at the time the effects were kind of

00:40groundbreaking the cgi uh depicting these tornadoes and they they were amazing for the time they did

00:46a great job it was such a stupid movie the whole concept it was just piss poor yeah yeah so the the

00:53arrival um storm chasers there's the corporate storm chasers and the more grassroots in it for

00:59the love of the storm the whole background story on linda hunts character joe hardy helen hunts

01:05joe hardy not linda yeah they're very different yeah so the uh helen hunts story about her dad being

01:12sucked away in a uh in a twister while they were in the storm cellar and she's always had this love

01:17hate relationship with the storms but the uh it's horrible but again at that time the effects wise

01:24you'd never seen anything like that no effects wise so here's uh here's my vivid memory of of this

01:29movie um because if it was 25 years ago today i uh was just getting done my junior year of college

01:36i was a lifeguard and i was at my my boss the guy who owned the company i was at his house

01:41getting all the supplies ready to clean out pools we did apartment and apartment pools and he he

01:49talked like this like his voice was like this right and uh and so it's me and my little brother and

01:56we're power washing all this stuff in his driveway and uh he goes i saw twister last night and those

02:02tornadoes were real and he said that those tornadoes were real he must have said that like a half a dozen

02:10times my little brother it was me and him my younger brother sorry it was me and him and so

02:16we will i mean even 25 years later if the words were real if the word tornado comes up in conversation

02:22he and i will say those tornadoes were real what was that guy's name i don't want to say his name

02:29his first name uh what was his first name last name you just know his last name joe okay let's go

02:36hey joe how were those tornadoes those tornadoes were real i love that story so much

02:43was he was he suggesting that they had incorporated

02:49was he what was his point was that that they they were not created for the movie that they were

02:56corralling tornadoes and using them in the film i think what he meant to say was those tornadoes

03:01looked real okay um but he said that they were real and he had like a real like uh affinity towards

03:08just weather he loved okay weather he was a weather guy yeah he loved it was like philip seymour

03:13hoffman in the movie well i mean listen he owned a like a pool supply and and uh lifeguarding

03:17company so weather what i really love is weather yeah weather's important to that line of work

03:23absolutely yeah yeah those tornadoes are real oh my god i wonder if my that's great it's almost

03:30kind of don nazi yeah i just said don nazi

03:36oh my god i didn't even mean to do that wow okay

03:59all right but you guys would be surprised how many people are texting in on how this is their

04:08favorite movie yeah or that it's their i don't even get why we're talking about it

04:13it's the 25th anniversary because those tornadoes are real i mean come on cap it was real by the way

04:23when casey says that he puts his his uh his his hands by his sides yeah uh i'm trying to like

04:30he like he pushes them into his sticks his elbows out because it was real those tornadoes were real

04:38primal fear ed norton has them as a very diabolical character right he's i remember he's completely

04:45psychopathic a good twist it's a twist yeah yeah yeah uh it's a twister

04:49i can't believe we just met this guy i can't believe i never you've never
