00:11We appreciate you hanging out with us for a little bit right now.

00:14And Let Your Boys Be Country, obviously, is a song that is out right now and absolutely killing it.

00:19Let's talk about Rock the Country, though.

00:20You've been doing shows.

00:21You did one in Ocala close to us.

00:23That one had to be kind of extra special for you because you got some ties to that area, right?

00:27Yeah, man.

00:28It was really cool.

00:29And I think it's been one of the – probably the biggest show we did all year.

00:34But, yeah, Ocala has always been a special town for me.

00:37I got family there.

00:38I came up in the early days before I moved to Nashville.

00:41I had a band there called Young Guns, and we were playing Gainesville, Ocala, kind of that whole area.

00:47And I had a pretty good following there.

00:49So it's always fun for me to go back.

00:51I mean, to me, that's kind of one of the places that I learned to do all this.

00:55And to go back and play shows there is really cool.

00:59And I don't get to do it a ton anymore just because, you know, Ocala is not one of the major cities.

01:04But it's always been a pretty special spot for me.

01:07And to be able to go back and do this festival there this year was pretty neat.

01:11Now, has it surprised you, the response you've gotten from these Rock the Country dates?

01:16Yeah, I mean, well, I mean, I think I kind of knew what to expect going into these.

01:21You know, it's a festival.

01:23It's obviously, you know, Rock the Country.

01:25It's a...

01:25And it's with Kid Rock.

01:27Yeah, I mean, it's a patriotic-themed, you know, festival.

01:31And it's, you know, it's been cool.

01:33It's been a lot of fun to go out and play.

01:35The crowds have been amazing.

01:37And, you know, me playing one night and Kid Rock playing on the other night.

01:42But you never know, really, who's going to be on which night as far as opening shows.

01:46And so it's been a lot of fun.

01:49And, you know, I'm glad they kind of reached out to us.

01:51This is the first year for that festival.

01:53And, you know, they reached out to us about being involved in it.

01:55And it was kind of a no-brainer.

01:57So it's been a good time, man.

01:58I'm glad we got to help kick this thing off.

02:01Now, you don't let your kids go venture into the crowd and meet the people out there, do you?

02:06No.

02:07I mean, there is tons of good folks out there.

02:10But, you know, the kids, when it comes to that, you know, it's like anybody, keep an eye on them.

02:16Well, I mean, you do say let your boys be country.

02:20I mean, that's country right there.

02:22That's country, man.

02:23Yeah.

02:23Just take off any other time, probably.

02:26But when there's 30,000 people out there, I'm just scared I can't find them.

02:31Exactly.

02:31Is there anything that you do keep Memphis besides that from doing?

02:36I mean, we see all over Instagram, you know, your wife is constantly posting videos and pictures of, you know, fishing and hunting.

02:42I mean, your kids are just so busy.

02:44Is there anything that you don't want him to do or you try to keep him from doing?

02:49No.

02:49I mean, I just think at this age, just figure it out.

02:51You know, it's like figure out what you want to do is that, you know, go play all the sports.

02:55Go fall off of something and realize, man, that hurts.

02:59I probably shouldn't do that again.

03:00So, like, you know what I mean?

03:01Let him kind of figure it out.

03:03That's kind of where I'm at with him.

03:04Obviously, as a parent, you want to protect them as much as possible.

03:07But, you know, they've got to learn and figure it out, too.

03:10So, that's the phase we're in.

03:17Jason, I've got to talk to you about a song.

03:18Can we just go back for a little bit?

03:20Because we recently heard that there was a song that went huge for you, Big Green Tractor,

03:25that you did not think was going to be a hit at all and kind of were reluctant to record it, right?

03:30Well, not that I didn't think it was going to be a hit.

03:32I mean, and we had already recorded the song, so I liked the song.

03:36It was just one of those that I was really surprised when it came time to pick singles.

03:41That was one that people were leaning towards, and my producer especially, was just like,

03:46man, I'm telling you, there's something about this song.

03:48And I was just like, really?

03:49That one?

03:49Like, it's so, you know, I don't know.

03:52It's just those kind of lyrics are typically not what I do.

03:55And I had done that with, you know, She's Country and, you know, those kind of things.

04:00But Hicktown a little bit.

04:02But then we were trying, I was also coming out with Why and Amarillo Sky and songs like that

04:06that had a little more meat on them.

04:08And so I was just like, man, I don't know that I want to put in, I don't want to start down that road

04:12of putting those kind of songs out.

04:14Well, then you'd be Luke Bryan, you know what I'm saying?

04:16Yeah, you know what I mean?

04:18No, but I put it out.

04:20And, you know, obviously I was wrong because that thing was a four-week number one and,

04:25you know, one of the biggest records I ever had.

04:28And obviously glad I did now.

04:30But at the time, it's just, you know, you're early in your career and you're really trying to,

04:34you know, make the right moves and not put something out that you're not crazy in love with.

04:40And, like, it was just kind of a tricky time when you're doing that.

04:43And so luckily for me, it was the right call.

04:46We put it out and had a big record on it.

04:48Now, we had a great time with you at the Bruce Arians Foundation charity.

04:53You played, you did amazing, we raised a bunch of money.

04:57But you did bid on a Tom Brady game-worn jersey.

05:01Have you paid up for that?

05:02No.

05:04Because I believe you were the high bid on the Tom Brady game-worn jersey.

05:09Yeah, I went backstage and, you know, talked to Bruce and sort of,

05:13hey, all right, man, let's get for real now.

05:18He's waiting on his money still, I think.

05:21That is fantastic.
