00:00Haunted Michigan. Terrifying Tales.
00:05Hey guys, welcome to another installment of Haunted Michigan. I'm your host Meltdown.
00:09And today we've got the guys from Haunt Investigators in Michigan.
00:11We've got Ed Ketch Dorian and Mark Ortiz. Welcome to the studio, guys.
00:15Thanks for having us.
00:17Yeah, you're welcome.
00:19Yeah, so 2012 is when you guys started out.
00:22So Mark, why don't you just tell us, you guys have known each other for years, right?
00:25Since grade school.
00:26Yeah, yeah. We grew up in the same neighborhood. I've known Ed probably since maybe the fifth grade.
00:33Growing up, you know, I've had my personal experience, paranormal experiences, and so did Ed.
00:38And somehow we just managed to hook up and share the same stories and decided, you know,
00:43hey, let's kind of follow the paranormal field and see what's out there.
00:46So Ed, I know Mark was telling us before we started and he just mentioned that he had paranormal experiences as a kid.
00:52Did you as well?
00:52Oh, yes, I definitely did. At my house growing up, there was some activity.
00:59So you were in what part of the Detroit area?
01:03I was in actually the south end of Dearborn, real close to the Ford Rouge plant.
01:07Okay, and where'd you grow up, Mark?
01:09Dearborn. Born in Detroit, raised in Dearborn. Spent some time in Texas and came back.
01:14I got you. So did you have experiences as well growing up?
01:17Yeah.
01:17At your house or just?
01:20Yeah, at my house. A large family. I got eight brothers, four sisters. The house, the upper part of the house, we've had, or I had some experiences,
01:30but the family that lived in the lower part never did. So half the family thought I was crazy. The other half, you know, believed it.
01:39Wait a second. You had 68 people in your family and you had another family living below you? Is that how this works?
01:44Well, yeah, it's six bedrooms and, you know, it's trying to fit, you know, 13 people in the house. It's pretty tight.
01:50Now, when you guys are having these experiences as a kid, then your parents sell the house.
01:54Do they have to tell the people, I don't know how this works?
01:56No, you know, I think in some states you have to disclose, yeah, this place is haunted. In some states you don't have to.
02:03And so then you guys formed Haunted Investigators of Michigan in 2012. Was it always just you two or is there other people as well?
02:11Other. Actually, the other co-founder, Mark Wainick, he actually, we both went to Salem and decided we were going to visit the town.
02:20And then we started going into the Hawthorne Hotel, which is supposed to be real haunted, and started doing a little things like, you know, we're just learning how to investigate.
02:29And then when we came back to Michigan, we decided, hey, let's do something with this. Let's run with it.
02:35Yeah. And were you with them at the time, Ed, in Salem?
02:37Oh, yeah. Yeah. And, you know, we also have some female members of our group and stuff because you really need a balanced approach when it comes to doing paranormal investigations.
02:48Yeah, I'm off next week, and I'm kind of contemplating heading out to Salem.
02:52I've always wanted to go out there, especially this time of year. I heard it's kind of crazy.
02:54But I do want to go out there one day. I actually had my wife look up, staying in the Lizzie Borden house.
03:01That's, yeah, that's closer to, that's, what town is that? Yeah, I know where it's at.
03:06Yeah, if you said the name, I would know it as well. But, yeah, that's over in that area as well.
03:11So you guys start up in 2012, and what's the place that you guys have investigated the most?
03:16The Whitney down in Detroit. We spent almost 10 years there. One day we went to the bar, the ghost bar at the time, and met up with Tony Muzzy, the general manager of the Whitney.
03:28And we told him that we were, you know, we were paranormal investigators. And a light bulb went in his head and said, hey, you know, Halloween is coming up.
03:36We're going to do a Halloween party. We want to do something along this line.
03:40We said, yeah, we could think of something. You know, we, I said, well, we need to get in here and we need to investigate because we need some material to present.
03:48And he said, yeah, not a problem. So we got there about 11, stayed maybe until four in the morning.
03:53So it's kind of cool when he's handing you the keys to the Whitney, if you've ever been there.
03:59And then throughout the years, we've been investigating, just gathering more information.
04:03And so every year we've been presenting new evidence, if you want to call it.
04:08So were you guys the first ones to investigate or?
04:12No, no. I think there was a couple other groups that came in and investigated, though.
04:17Why do you think the Whitney attracts so many investigators, Ed?
04:21Because there's just so much activity there.
04:26The place from 1923 to 1979 was a hospice.
04:31Okay. I didn't know that. Okay.
04:33Yeah. So there's a lot of, you know, most of the activity is really not the Whitney family.
04:40It is.
04:41The people that have been there during hospice.
04:43Yes.
04:44Yeah. I got you.
04:45So, Mark, what kind of things have you experienced at the Whitney?
04:48You know, we've been there for so many years.
04:51There's just so much that happened.
04:54And I'm trying to pick out the best one.
04:57The most creepiest thing that actually had my hairs rise up my arm.
05:01Oh, I know the best one.
05:03Yeah, there's a couple.
05:04But the one that comes to mind was, this was during a paranormal dinner.
05:09Guests, about 12, 13 guests at dinner, five-course meal.
05:13And then we would do our presentation.
05:15And then we would take them up into the carriage house.
05:18So as we're coming to the carriage house, I was asking, there was one particular person.
05:24I said, why don't you come with me upstairs?
05:26I need for you to stand by the store.
05:28And it's black up there.
05:30You can't see anything because these dinners are late.
05:32And we get to the middle of the floor.
05:35And to my left, there's a doorway.
05:38And it's leading to Grace's table.
05:40Grace is the oldest daughter of David Whitney.
05:43And there's a tea set, a tea table set for her because she liked to have tea back in the day.
05:49As I look to my left, there's this dark shadow mask standing in the doorway.
05:56And inside that room, there's a window and there's a lamp.
06:01Outside, there's a light post.
06:03And there's normally light coming through.
06:05I could not see that light as it came through.
06:08So I look over to my left and I see this black mask.
06:11And I whisper to the gal next to me, I said, do you feel that?
06:16And she didn't say anything.
06:18And I said, okay, everybody, come on up.
06:21So everybody comes up.
06:23We step into that room.
06:24And as we're gathered around her table, I say out loud, I said, okay, everybody, remain silent.
06:31Don't talk.
06:32Don't whisper.
06:33Because whispering can come across as a spirit talking.
06:36Great group.
06:38I say, is there anybody here with us today?
06:43And at that moment, we hear, yes, come out of the air.
06:47People heard it to the left.
06:48People heard it to the right.
06:50And I'm like, wow, did that actually just happen?
06:53And we have this on video.
06:55It's on our Facebook page.
06:56So anybody who's interested in seeing this, you can go to our Facebook and watch this video.
07:02It's really impressive because the reaction from the people that were standing there, it just caught them.
07:07It caught myself off guard.
07:08But I was trying to look professional and not scared.
07:10But we caught that.
07:12And that freaked me out the most because I did not expect it.
07:16So what happens after this yes?
07:17Do you respond with another question?
07:20Well, everybody's going, oh, my gosh, I heard it to my left.
07:22I heard it to my right.
07:23And at that same time, which is weird because there is a piece of device we have.
07:28It's called the X-Cam.
07:29And Ed's holding this X-Cam.
07:31And he's pointing it in the direction of the table.
07:35And at the exact same moment that we hear yes out loud, he gets a figure on X-Cam that pops up.
07:43It's kind of like it was an amazing catch for us to catch that.
07:49And how long ago was this?
07:51Oh, my gosh.
07:53It was a while ago.
07:54That was probably about four or five years ago.
07:56Okay.
07:56Before, like, pre-pandemic.
07:58Oh, yeah.
07:58And by the way, everything before the pandemic is, you know, I started my radio career pre-pandemic.
08:04It's just going to be that way for the rest of time.
08:05That's why I look at it.
08:06But so four or five years ago, and then that was, do you think that was your biggest catch you've gotten at the Whitney?
08:12No.
08:13No?
08:14Ed, what do you got?
08:15No.
08:15No, no.
08:16Actually, my favorite is when I took my sister and one of our female investigators to dinner at the Whitney.
08:26So no group, no nothing.
08:29And we had a nice dinner at the Whitney.
08:31Great place to have dinner, by the way.
08:32And this is as you've already been, like, investigating.
08:34Oh, yeah.
08:34You're familiar with the place.
08:35Oh, yeah.
08:36We're very familiar with the place.
08:37Been investigating for years there.
08:39Okay.
08:39And I asked the manager, Tony.
08:43I go, Tony, hey, can I have the keys for the carriage house?
08:46I want to show my sister.
08:47She's out here from Oregon.
08:48And I had brought my SLS sex cam with us.
08:52And so we went up into the carriage house, and we're sitting at Grace's table.
08:57So our female investigator, Cuddlin' Rye, she's sitting at Grace's table.
09:03And me and my sister, we're looking at her with a SLS sex cam.
09:06And there's a small little figure that appears on the table in front of her.
09:11And I'm telling Cuddlin' what I'm seeing.
09:15And she sees this small little figure, and she puts her hand out, and the figure sits
09:20in her hand.
09:21Hmm.
09:22And then, and I'm telling her exactly what's going on.
09:25Then she puts out her other hand, and the figure is laying in her hand like a baby.
09:29And so we're interacting with this stick figure, asking it to raise its hand and raise its leg
09:36and do this and do that.
09:38And so this session lasted for about five minutes, which is really long in the paranormal world
09:45to have something to interact with you for that long.
09:48And so we're getting, you know, getting near the end of things and Cuddlin' ass, next time
09:54I come, do you want me to bring you a book and read you a story?
09:58And Class A, EVP, yeah.
10:02And it was just freaky.
10:04So next time we did bring a book.
10:07And she started reading the story.
10:09And a stick figure appeared on the table.
10:11Another stick figure appeared to sit on her shoulder.
10:14And another one was standing beside her on the ground.
10:17So she had three child-sized stick figures sitting around her while she's reading the
10:24story.
10:25So that, for me, when you have video evidence and you get a Class A EVP at the same time,
10:33that's just like the trifecta right there.
10:36Right.
10:36You're golden.
10:38And you've seen this as well, Mark.
10:39You've seen this video.
10:40Yeah.
10:40Yeah.
10:41Yeah.
10:41Yeah.
10:41It's on our Facebook page.
10:42Tell me more about this Grace's table.
10:44I've never been to the Whitney for whatever reason.
10:45I've never been down there.
10:46But is it still there?
10:47Like anyone can go in this carriage house and sit at Grace's table?
10:50Yeah.
10:51I mean, the public can't walk up to the house.
10:53Whitney and get in the carriage house because there's a lot of renovation that has to be
10:57done.
10:57The ceiling's probably falling down.
10:59Oh, okay.
10:59But the table was set up for the oldest daughter of David Whitney.
11:03He was the lumber parent that built the house.
11:06Yeah.
11:06And she used to go up there when she came back from overseas and she would have tea and she
11:12stood out and watched the horses out on the field.
11:14Yeah.
11:15So right behind the Whitney used to be the polo grounds for horse polo.
11:20Okay.
11:21For the Detroit Athletic Club or something like that.
11:25Equestrian club or something.
11:26Yeah.
11:26Some equestrian club.
11:27But they used to play horse polo.
11:29So Grace loved to sit up there, have tea and watch horse polo.
11:33And when did she pass away?
11:36Oh, geez.
11:37Great question.
11:38Pre-pandemic?
11:40Oh, yeah.
11:41Yeah.
11:41I know.
11:42Was it in the 20s?
11:43Is it that long ago?
11:44I know that Mrs. Whitney died in 1917 and the family effectively let go of the property
11:54in 1923.
11:56Gotcha.
11:56Okay.
11:57So she's probably much older.
11:58I don't have the definition.
12:00We'll have to look that up and see if we can figure that out.
12:02So you guys have also been down to Fort Wayne a bunch of times.
12:05I've heard about this place as well.
12:07So, Mark, tell me a little bit about Fort Wayne.
12:10Well, Fort Wayne.
12:11And Ed, actually, he's a coalition member of Fort Wayne to this day.
12:15He's got a lot of great information as far as the history and whatnot.
12:19And tell people exactly where that is, because I've lived here for a long time, and I'm not
12:22really even sure where it is.
12:23It's on Livernois and Jefferson Avenue, and it's the only Civil War era fort in the city
12:32of Detroit.
12:33All right.
12:33I got to get down there and check it out.
12:34And it was built in response to the public fear from the War of 1812.
12:41When the British came over and took over Detroit.
12:44Right.
12:46And so this was built in response to that, but never had cannons installed.
12:52And during the Civil War, it was used as a camp of instruction for soldiers during the
12:57Civil War.
12:58Okay.
12:59All right.
12:59So that would have been about 30 years later then.
13:01Yeah.
13:01Thereabouts.
13:02So it was just sitting vacant with one caretaker.
13:05And it was used as an underground railroad during pre-Civil War.
13:12There was, because it was the shortest distance between the United States and Canada right
13:17there.
13:17So slaves used to roll across the river there to escape to Canada.
13:22I get it.
13:22So what kind of stuff have you witnessed there?
13:26Oh, a lot of Class A EVPs.
13:30I've had women have their hair pulled.
13:34And I'll turn it over to Mark for when we had the piece of equipment thrown.
13:40So Mark.
13:40Oh, yeah.
13:41Yeah.
13:41I want to hear about that.
13:42It was, well, Ed, they used to have tours after dark and they did it during the fall
13:47season and they'd have large groups.
13:50So each group had about 10 to 15 people.
13:53Ed was a leader of a group.
13:55He had other members of the coalition members that actually led these groups around the field
14:00or the area.
14:02I was stationed in what they call the headquarters, but it looks like a schoolhouse, two floors
14:07with lockers and everything.
14:08So I was in there as each group came in, I would put on like a demonstration with the
14:15equipment or they can go off and do their own thing up on the second floor and do their
14:20own paranormal investigation.
14:21So it lasted maybe 20 minutes for each group.
14:24So when 20 minutes is over, the group left, another group would come in.
14:28As Ed's group came in, I was in the back room doing my thing and Ed goes, hey, you know,
14:34I got to go.
14:35I will meet you back at the gymnasium.
14:36And so Ed's yelling out, hey, my group, we're leaving.
14:40We got to go.
14:41I said, okay.
14:42I followed Ed and his group out the door.
14:46As Ed and them left, I turned the lights back off because I like to have it dark.
14:52And because of our equipment, I need the light sensitive.
14:57I wanted it to be dark so we could pick up anything that shows darker.
15:01So as Ed's group left, I switched the light off.
15:06I go down the hall into a room.
15:09And at that same time, because we've had experiences in there before, creep me out.
15:13I'm walking down the hall, and before I enter the classrooms on the left, I say, well, let
15:21me go back up real quick.
15:22We had a piece of equipment, the X-Camp, like Ed was talking about.
15:26It's a tablet connected to a piece of equipment on a handle.
15:30So if you lay it down on the table, it can't roll off.
15:36So I had laid this X-Camp on the table, I think it was like a nine-foot table, and laid
15:41it there, and as Ed's team left, I left it there.
15:44As I went down the hall, I say, I'll be totally honest, this place is creeping me out.
15:51You say it out loud.
15:52Out loud to myself.
15:53There's nobody else in there.
15:54I enter the classroom to my left, and what I hear, and what we actually now, I don't
16:04want to say no, because we didn't catch it on video, but what I'm hearing now is my X-Camp
16:09tumbling off this table and slamming to the ground.
16:14I step out, and I'm wearing a body cam, so I got all this footage, and it's on our Facebook
16:20if people want to go see it.
16:21I see my X-Camp now face down on the ground at the end of the table, and I said to myself,
16:28holy.
16:29Yeah, right.
16:30And first thing I'm thinking, our $1,200 piece of equipment is now shattered, because that's
16:35how hard it hit.
16:37I get there, and the next group is walking in the door, led by, I can't remember, it
16:42was a female tour member.
16:44I reached down, I said, holy sh...
16:46I look at it, and it's not broke.
16:48It's not shattered.
16:48I can't believe it.
16:49The sound sounded like it shattered, and as they walked in, I said, something just
16:55threw my X-Camp off the table, but when we listened back to the audio, or even on video,
17:01you could hear this thing just boom, boom, boom, boom, slamming.
17:05I'm like, how the hell did that happen?
17:06Because this device, you cannot roll this off the table.
17:10We went to recreate it, and I'm hitting the table, trying to move it, nothing's happening.
17:17I actually stuck a pillow on the floor and put the camera on the edge of the table to
17:24see, maybe I got it too close, but after reviewing our video, this X-Camp is in the middle of
17:31the table.
17:31It is by far and away the most creepiest building in all of historic Fort Wayne.
17:37In fact...
17:37That particular building is the schoolhouse, you said?
17:40It's a headquarters building, and it was converted to a Head Start schoolhouse during the 1970s
17:49or 80s, somewhere around that time period.
17:51And it's by far and away the creepiest building at the Fort.
17:56I was actually had another episode with SLX Cam in that classroom that he was going to,
18:03because usually you catch an entity with SLX Cam, and it shows up like a stick figure.
18:09Well, I was chasing something around the room that looked like a soda can.
18:15It was a black mass shaped like a soda can.
18:17Is this something you could see with your eyes?
18:19No, I couldn't see with my eyes, so I turned on the flashlight to see if I could see it,
18:23see if it was a rat or something.
18:25And I can't see it with my bare eyes, but I'm seeing with the SLX Cam this black mass
18:30that looks like a soda can.
18:31So I start chasing it around the room in this classroom, and I finally corner it.
18:36And then it morphs into a stick figure without a head, which is the first time I've seen a
18:42stick figure without a head.
18:44And it just kind of creeped me up.
18:45I backed out, backed up a couple steps, and it disappeared.
18:50Now, it's the very same classroom where the ghost hunters, the ghost hunters actually came
18:55to sort of Fort Wayne one time.
18:56So we had Steve Gonzalez and Dave Tango in that very same classroom.
19:01They had a group of people that paid $250 a head to hunt with the famous ghost hunters.
19:09And they had a black shadow mass rise out of the center of the floor.
19:15And two of the ladies just ran off.
19:19They went to their car, $500, bye-bye.
19:23You know, and so...
19:25Well, maybe they got their money's worth.
19:26Yeah.
19:27Right?
19:27That makes sense.
19:28Yeah.
19:28Because you're there to pay for an experience, and they got it.
19:31Yeah.
19:31And I had a good episode with Larry Murphy there at the headquarters.
19:36Yeah, I want to hear about this.
19:37Yeah.
19:38Yeah.
19:38So Larry Murphy, he's really not into the paranormal, but his wife, Jamie, she loves it.
19:43Now, we're not speaking out of school, are we?
19:45Murph, well, I don't want to get in trouble with Murph, so...
19:47Are we good?
19:47Probably not.
19:48You know, because if I text Jamie, his wife right now, she'd say, oh, yeah, go for it.
19:51Okay.
19:52All right.
19:52Oh, yeah.
19:53So go ahead.
19:53Yeah, so we're doing a pre-season evidence gathering, and we invite Larry Murphy and Jamie
20:00because, you know, they're famous, and they're kind of cool, and we're like, yeah, we're gathering
20:04evidence before we start doing our tours in the fall.
20:07So they came with us, and, you know, Larry's not really into it, and I started showing them
20:15some of the equipment and the do's and don'ts with some of the equipment and how you can get
20:19false positives and stuff, and so we have this REM pod.
20:23And I'm showing how to set the REM pod off, and he's like, okay, cool.
20:27I understand that.
20:28So I have the chair set in the middle of the hallway.
20:31No one's near it, and then we start asking questions, and the REM pod starts responding
20:38to our questions.
20:40It was going once for yes, two for no, and Larry's starting to kind of get this look on
20:48his face.
20:49Jamie's like, this is so cool.
20:51Yeah, is this really happening?
20:53You know, and it was just really kind of after the night, you know, where you had a
21:00non-believer, and he's like, eh, there might be something to this.
21:06Yeah, he hasn't been that terrified since he saw a dad suit coming down on him, I suppose,
21:10right?
21:11Yeah.
21:12Yeah, he might be a little bit older for that, but no, that's great.
21:15So yeah, Fort Wayne is definitely a place I've got to go there.
21:18How many times do you guys think you've investigated that place?
21:21Oh.
21:22I don't know.
21:23We were always, anytime Ed had a function going on there, we were allowed to go into a particular
21:31building and do something.
21:32Yeah, we ran eight tours a year for a period of about eight years.
21:41So we bring in the public, and we would normally have about 50 to 60 people.
21:48We'd break them up into even groups, so usually we had six tour guides, and we had a set rotation
21:58going throughout all the different buildings at the fort.
22:01And it was a shame that we had to stop this last year.
22:08It was due to a request from Native Americans, because there's a Native American burial ground
22:18at the fort, a mound, and there's still a body in there.
22:22And so at their request, the city said, no more paranormal tours, no more after dark tours.
22:31It's offending them.
22:32And we're like, we're having a great time.
22:33It's our best money raiser.
22:35And, you know, politics gets involved, and we're not doing them anymore.
22:41Yeah.
22:41So if you guys, I know that you said you're going to go to Houghton Lake.
22:44We'll get into that here in a second.
22:46Any other places throughout Michigan that really stick out in your brain?
22:50Eloise.
22:51Eloise, yeah.
22:51I think there's a lot of paranormal teams that have done Eloise.
22:55Yeah, it's, I think the night we were there, everything was quiet, and then it becomes
23:03not quiet.
23:04So, and I don't remember the time of night it was.
23:06And when was this?
23:08A year and a half ago.
23:09Okay.
23:10We were on the fifth floor, Ed, myself, and one of the other investigators cuddling.
23:16And we're talking out, not talking out loud, we're trying to talk to the spirits or to
23:20see if the undead is alive.
23:22So to my right, there's a door.
23:27And what we hear is slam coming from within that room.
23:31And we look over and go, what the hell is that?
23:35So we go over to that door, we open it, and it's a bathroom.
23:39And these bathroom stall doors are open.
23:42But what we hear after replaying it, it sounded like a bathroom stall door had shut on its
23:49own, a slam.
23:50And it's interesting because we got that same slam, the same sound at the Whitney in Detroit.
23:56There was a story on the third floor of a woman that was seen on the third floor restroom.
24:00And we also caught that same slam of a bathroom door closing in on itself.
24:06So that's how we were able to, like, oh, that's a door.
24:10That's a bathroom stall door actually shutting.
24:12A lot of these places, believe it or not, a lot of the activity, in the bathrooms.
24:17Is that right?
24:18Yeah.
24:19In the bathrooms.
24:20Yeah.
24:20Wow.
24:21So you're going to be heading up to Houghton Lake, the one down here in the lower part.
24:25And that's, you're going to go to a place called Anchor Inn now.
24:29Why that place?
24:30What's?
24:31Anytime that we go on vacation, see, actually, we had investigated it about a year and a half
24:36ago.
24:36You investigated that particular location.
24:38Okay.
24:38But there's some unfinished business that we have to do there.
24:41Okay.
24:41Because the last time we were there, we had gone camping.
24:44We actually rented a cabin on Houghton Lake, my wife, myself, my sister and her husband.
24:49And as they did their night thing, I told Ray, hey, I want to go to Anchor Inn, see if
24:54we can get in and investigate, because I read and heard the stories about it.
24:57So we got in that evening to investigate it, caught some interesting things, some personal
25:02experiences.
25:04So we're actually heading back up to Houghton for a UFO conference.
25:08But down the street is the Anchor Inn.
25:11So I called Rhonda, who runs the Anchor Inn.
25:13I said, hey, we're going to be in town.
25:15Can we investigate it again?
25:17And she says, yeah, absolutely.
25:18So we're going to go back.
25:19Ed's never investigated, but I have.
25:20Yeah, I'm excited.
25:22Yeah.
25:22Yeah.
25:22What about some places around here?
25:24Like I was talking with some of my friends about the New Hudson Inn.
25:28The New Hudson Inn.
25:30Where is that?
25:31That's in New Hudson.
25:31The New Hudson.
25:32But it's the oldest bar in Michigan.
25:34I think it's from like the 1840s.
25:35Yeah.
25:36No, I'm not familiar with it.
25:37There's so many different locations in Michigan that I would love to hit.
25:42But, you know, obviously you got to have time.
25:44Right.
25:44You got to have money.
25:45You know, but anytime, if we can get somewhere in Michigan to investigate, I'm always, my wife is telling me, okay, what are you doing now?
25:54Because if we're planning a trip into the UP, I have to find out if there's a place to investigate.
25:59Yeah.
26:00So, yeah.
26:00I think I might head to the UP.
26:01Actually, I might go to the Bonehead's Grill tonight.
26:04So Bonehead's Barbecue in Willis.
26:05Yeah, yeah.
26:06We've been there.
26:06Love that place.
26:06Well, if you go to someplace, just remember, it doesn't have to be dark to get good evidence.
26:11We've gotten some of our best EVPs at three or four o'clock in the afternoon.
26:15Really?
26:16Oh, yeah.
26:17Yeah.
26:17Actually, the first time I ever was sworn at by something was in the middle of an open field at Historic Fort Wayne where the hospital once stood.
26:27And I had been asking questions about the Spanish influenza.
26:32And I got a very shocking reply.
26:37And I'm like, and I thought I was asking respectfully.
26:40Uh-huh.
26:41Yeah.
26:43Wow.
26:44Yeah.
26:45Well, see, I don't walk around with the EVP, so I wouldn't know if they were talking to me or not.
26:48So I'll keep my ears open.
26:50Most phones can digitally record.
26:53Yeah, that's true.
26:53Yeah.
26:54So, Mark, you just came back from Alaska.
26:56Did both of you guys go or just you?
26:58Myself, along with the other co-founder, Mark Wainick, his girlfriend, my wife, my sister, husband.
27:04So there was 16 of us actually went.
27:06Now, yeah, this show is basically primarily Michigan.
27:09But what did you go up there for?
27:11We actually did a cruise.
27:13Okay.
27:13So we went to Seattle, a cruise ship all the way to Alaska.
27:17But at the same time, I'm researching areas I want to investigate.
27:22So my wife, she totally understands.
27:24And so Mark Wainick, the other co-founder and myself, I said, Mark, I got a place in Juneau.
27:29And it's an Alaskan hotel and bar.
27:34Researched it.
27:35Demonic activity in the basement.
27:37People have died in the room, mess, suicide, whatever.
27:43So when we got to Juneau, I said, okay, honey, we're leaving.
27:49So we actually left and went to the Juneau, the Alaskan hotel.
27:53And we got in to do a little mini investigation.
27:57I was going to say, because wait a second, I've been on cruises before.
28:00And usually they dock or report or whatever for like five hours or something.
28:03So is that what you had?
28:05Yeah.
28:05In Juneau, we had about, I think we had about seven hours.
28:09Okay, seven hours.
28:09So you had time.
28:10So you kind of, did you set this up ahead of time?
28:12Oh, yeah.
28:12Yeah.
28:13Absolutely.
28:13You know, anytime we're going to be doing something, I'm always, you know, I'm calling the Alaskan hotel from Dearborn.
28:20And say, hey, I'm coming out on a cruise.
28:23This is what I would like to do.
28:25And how do you get your equipment on the plane and then on the cruise ship?
28:29We don't bring everything.
28:31Okay.
28:31And I have like, when I, when, when I was going out to the Queen Mary in California, I brought some stuff, not everything, because it's just way too much material.
28:43Right.
28:43But you're still bringing electronics and stuff and TSA and whatnot.
28:46And of course, going on the cruise, they don't want you bringing, you know, then you say, well, I'm going to be investigating.
28:50And ghosts, they probably look at you crazy, right?
28:52For the most part.
28:53Yeah, they do.
28:54For the most part, all you need are your senses, a digital recorder, and a flashlight.
29:01Okay.
29:0290% of our evidence that we've captured is on audio.
29:07It's really hard to capture stuff on video.
29:09And so how did it go in Alaska?
29:11The interview, the mini investigation all went well.
29:17I'm actually still going through material to see if we caught anything.
29:24And this was, you know, we were there about a month ago.
29:27It takes time because you have to listen and you got to watch a lot of video.
29:32And for the most part, you know, it's time consuming.
29:36I haven't gone through everything, but I did post, I did post material from our, the bar.
29:42Didn't catch anything.
29:45The hotel part of the investigation, I'm still reviewing that material.
29:50Well, that sounds like a great trip for nothing else.
29:53Yeah, it was.
29:53It was fantastic.
29:54That's one of my, one of my things I want to do one day is do that Alaskan cruise.
29:57So the Haunt Investigators of Michigan, Mark Ortiz and Ed Kachadorian, anything else you guys want to add?

30:18There's a lot of video, you know, with all the social media pages, it's hard to try to keep up with everything.
30:24Right.
30:25You know, so 100%, 99% is all on Facebook.
30:29Gotcha.
30:30Well, guys, thank you so much for taking your day to come down here to the station.
30:33I appreciate that.

30:36Yeah, and thanks for the stories.
30:38Awesome stories.
30:38I still have to get down to Fort Wayne and the Whitney.
30:40I got to get to both those places.
30:41But if you ever want to get to the Whitney and you want to do a little tour investigation of the carriage house, let us know.
30:49All right.
30:49We can get you in.
30:50I appreciate that.
30:50I want to see, I want to see her table.
30:52What's her name again?
30:53Grace.
30:53Grace.
30:54Yeah, I want to see Grace's table.
30:55Grace Wayne's table.
30:55Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
30:56There you go.
