00:00Tampa Bay's Morning Crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.
00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10It is Military Monday. We have Crystal on the phone who is honoring her son, Cody.
00:14Good morning, Crystal. How are you?
00:16Good morning. Good. Thank you.
00:18Well, thank you for reaching out to us. We love getting to honor military members in our community.
00:22Why don't you tell us about your son, Cody, what branches he serve in, and what is he doing now?
00:27Cody is in the Air Force. He's been in since 2016.
00:32He graduated from Largo High School, and the military was not his first choice.
00:37He decided at 21 that that's the way he wanted to go, and I couldn't be more proud of him.
00:44And he's kind of been stationed in different parts of the world, right?
00:47Yes. He's been to England for three years, and then they were stationed in Guam, and now he's back here at McDill.
00:54Oh, here we go. I bet you're happy he's home, huh?
00:56I am super happy.
00:58Okay.
00:59What do you think changed his mind to go serve our country?
01:03He said he had always thought about it, and he had tried working some different jobs.
01:08He actually went to USF right after high school.
01:11He did a semester and decided that was it for him.
01:15And he took some jobs, and then he decided that this would be a good path for him for his career, and I couldn't be more excited for him.
01:26And what does he specialize in in the Air Force?
01:28He is in vehicle maintenance.
01:30Okay.
01:30And currently at McDill, he is not hands-on right now.
01:35He's kind of more in an office position, and he's just happy to be here, and we're happy to have him here.
01:41That's fantastic.
01:42So he graduates from Largo High School, goes to USF, decides, you know what, I'm going to go into the Air Force, been in there since 2016.
01:50That is awesome.
01:51What do you think he loves so much about serving our country?
01:54What has he told you about it?
01:55He likes the opportunity to travel and to see different things.
02:00He was stationed in Guam, and he went to Korea for seven months.
02:05He didn't enjoy being separated from his family, but it was nice to see other parts of the world.
02:12Sure.
02:13Just a great, great time.
02:14Well, great.
02:15Well, listen, Crystal, these are the stories we love hearing because we love honoring military members in our community,
02:21and Cody would be one of those, and he served across the world for us.
02:24And we appreciate him so much.
02:26We want to do this.
02:27We want to give you a $100 gift card from our friends at Stingray Chevrolet to pass on to him.
02:31Again, this is a small way for us to say thank you for his service, and we appreciate you so much for reaching out to us.
02:38I'm sure he would love the gift card, and it's been great getting to brag about my son.
02:44Well, that's what we want to do.
02:45We want to give you a chance to brag about him all you want.
02:48You got it.
