00:01U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has arrived in Rome for meetings with Italian Prime Minister

00:07Giorgio Maloney and the Vatican. After a ceremonial welcome, Vance said he was optimistic

00:14about ending the war in Ukraine.

00:17We do feel optimistic that we can hopefully bring this war, this very brutal war, to a

00:22close. I also, of course, want to talk to the Prime Minister about some of the economic

00:26relationships, very important between Italy and the United States. But, of course, we're

00:29having some big trade negotiations between not just Italy and the United States, but the

00:33whole European Union.

00:35On Thursday, Maloney visited the White House and has positioned herself as a bridge between

00:40the U.S. and Europe. U.S. President Donald Trump has praised Maloney for her crackdown on migration.

00:48Vance plans to attend Easter weekend at the Vatican and was scheduled to meet with the Vatican

00:54Secretary of State, according to the White House.
