17-year-old's dismembered body recovered in Thane

Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have recovered the remains of Soheb Shaikh, a 17-year-old boy who vanished in November 2020.

00:00This was the mother of a 17-year-old boy who was murdered and buried in silence back in 2020.

00:09His body was chopped into pieces, some parts were stuffed inside a shop while the rest were dumped in a drain.

00:17On 16 April 2025, police in Maharashtra's Thane district exhumed body parts of Sohip Sheikh,

00:23a resident of Bhivandi who went missing on 20 November 2020.

00:27The local police launched a probe but could not make any headway for a long time.

00:32In 2023, they detained a suspect identified as Ghulam Rabbani who was associated with the madrasa but he gave them the slip.

00:39Acting on a tip, police recently arrested Rabbani who shared the details of the crime.

00:44Rabbani told the police that he killed Sheikh inside a shop, chopped the body and buried some parts there.

00:49The accused said he dumped the other body parts in a drain.

00:52Based on Rabbani's confession, the body parts were exhumed from the shop on 16 April 2025, police officials said.

00:59They are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
