Chinese President Xi Jinping departed Malaysia for Cambodia on Thursday,

wrapping up a three-day state visit that marked a significant step forward in Malaysia-China relations.

The Air China aircraft carrying Xi and his delegation took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 10.04 a.m.

Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim and Foreign Minister Datuk Sri Muhammad Hassan

were present to bid farewell to the Chinese delegation.

A send-off ceremony was held at the Bung Araya Complex,

where the 1st Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment, ceremonial, mounted a guard of honour in Xi's honour.

President Xi arrived in Malaysia on Tuesday at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

This marked Xi's second visit to the country in 12 years,

the previous one being in 2013 when Malaysia and China elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

On Wednesday, Xi was accorded a state welcoming ceremony,

The two leaders also witnessed the exchange of 31 memoranda of understanding,
