China President Xi Jinping received a state welcoming ceremony at Istana Negara on Wednesday (April 16) on the second day of his three-day state visit to Malaysia.

00:00China President Xi Jinping was accorded a state welcome at Istana Negara on Wednesday,
00:07marking the second day of his three-day official visit to Malaysia.
00:11He was received at 10.30 a.m. by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
00:17Also in attendance were Prime Minister Datuk Shri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife,
00:21Datuk Shri Dr. Wan Aziza Wan Ismail, as well as both Deputy Prime Ministers,
00:27Datuk Shri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Shri Fadila Yusof, alongside other Cabinet Ministers.
00:34The ceremony, held at the Istana Negara Parade Ground, began with the national anthems of both nations
00:41performed by the Royal Malay Regiment Central Band,
00:44followed by a 21-gun salute by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment.
00:50President Xi then inspected the Main Guard of Honor,
00:53comprising four officers and 103 personnel from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment,
01:00RAMD, based at Sungai Bersi Camp, led by Major Muhammad Waqiyuddin Abdul Rahman.
01:06Following the inspection, Xi was treated to a traditional welcome dance performance
01:11by the National Department of Culture and Arts, symbolizing Malaysia's respect and hospitality.
01:17His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim later held a bilateral meeting with President Xi and his delegation,
01:23which also included a commemorative gift exchange ceremony at Dewan Sri Maharaja.
01:29This marks Xi's second state visit to Malaysia in 12 years, the last being in 2013,
01:34a milestone visit that elevated Malaysia-China relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
01:41Xi's stop in Malaysia is part of his first series of state visits in 2025,
01:47which also includes Vietnam and Cambodia.
01:50Malaysia and China established diplomatic ties on May 31, 1974,
01:56and celebrated the 50th anniversary of their relations last year.
02:00China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years since 2009.
02:06In 2024, total trade between the two countries reached over 484 billion ringgit,
02:14accounting for 16.8% of Malaysia's overall global trade value of 2.88 trillion ringgit.
