00:14In November 2024, tourist footfall in Sikkim surged due to continuous snowfall in North

00:18and East Sikkim.

00:19According to a study published by the Sikkim Forest website in 2012, titled Monitoring

00:24of Seasonal Snow Cover in Sikkim, Himalaya, suggested that Sikkim witnessed peak snowfall

00:28mainly from Western disturbances.

00:30Its unique location had resulted in more snowfall compared to the Western Himalayas, which enhanced

00:34glacier input in the summer months.

00:36Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department had announced the onset of an early summer

00:40with even higher temperatures than 2024 and frequent heatwaves across India in 2025.
