00:00so the title of the sermon today is the wisdom of the world the wisdom of the world so if you
00:08remember you may not remember it's about a year ago i preached a sermon on knowledge wisdom and
00:13understanding and i just want to give you the definitions according to the bible of what it is
00:19knowledge is the facts or information on a subject so the what so you learn how to do something
00:27wisdom is putting forth that knowledge into practice the how so you may learn how to do
00:34something so like let's use a simple example of changing the oil in your car you know that how
00:40to do it you learn how somebody tells you this is how you do it you take the oil filter off you know
00:46you take you take the plug off you've got to take the plug and drain the oil you got to change the
00:50filter and then put the plug back in put oil back in and the filter well wisdom is putting forth
00:56knowledge into the practice so the knowledge is the what the information that you get the wisdom
01:04is putting forth that knowledge into practice the how so in changing the oil is knowing what to do
01:11but the wisdom is knowing what order so you know that you can't change the filter first because that
01:18ain't gonna make any sense so you have to do what you have to train out the oil first you have to take
01:23the plug out drain the oil and then once all the oil is drained out of that drain pan then you have to
01:30replace it you can't do it in a different order you have to do it in that sort of certain order that's
01:35the under that's the wisdom and understanding is why the knowledge and wisdom are important the why
01:42so why do you need to change oil well if you don't you're going to burn up your engine the
01:46doors when we get nasty and dirty and sludgy and eventually the pistons and all the parts in it
01:51are not so just to let you know the knowledge is the why the wisdom is the how and the understanding
01:58is the why we do that so the wisdom of the world wisdom if you'll go to proverbs 4 the whole book of
02:06proverbs is just full of wisdom why because uh king solomon
02:13is the one who penned down most of proverbs so look at proverbs chapter 4 verse 5 get wisdom
02:27get understanding forget it not so remember wisdom is what is nolly is to know how to put something
02:35the how the understanding is what is what we would call intelligence it's why you need to do it
02:42why do i need to change the oil forget it not neither decline from the words of my mouth forsake
02:50her not and she shall preserve thee love her and she shall keep thee wisdom is a principle thing what
02:57is principle means the most important thing therefore get wisdom and with all getting get understanding
03:04so the bible is telling us that the two important things are wisdom knowing the how and then the next
03:12thing is the why the knowledge you can just learn a lot of people learn how to do things but they don't
03:19know how to put it into practice and that's what the bible is teaching us here go to uh proverbs 8 probably one
03:25page over proverbs 8 verse 10 receive my instruction and not silver and knowledge rather than choice
03:36gold so the bible is telling us here that silver and gold is not as important as instruction and
03:43knowledge for wisdom is better than rubies and all things that may be desired or not to be compared to it
03:50so the bible is teaching us here that riches are not important it never is when people tell you that
03:57that's just foolish when people tell you that god wants you to be rich there's nothing in the bible about
04:01that folks um nowhere at all when people tell you that is you know where their hearts at the bible literally
04:10telling us that knowledge and understanding and wisdom is more important than anything you could possibly have
04:18that you can hold in your hand uh go to proverbs 15 again the whole book of proverbs is just full of wisdom
04:26and knowledge and understanding uh proverbs 15 verse 1 a soft answer turneth away wrath so when somebody's mad
04:38and you talk to them softly then that usually makes them happy but grievous words stir up anger the tongue of
04:45the wise uses knowledge of right but the mouth of fools purport out foolishness so when you speak
04:55and you use wisdom then you know you can help people out but when you speak foolishly and speaking foolishly
05:03has to do with not thinking about what you say before you say it you can make people make yourself sound
05:10foolish first of all but you can make people mad that's what the bible says go to ecclesiastes the next
05:16book in the bible ecclesiastes chapter 10 getting this by king solomon
05:26which we know the bible says he was the most wise man on the earth and nobody ever be more wiser than him
05:34human being that is ecclesiastes 10 because jesus was on earth but he was more wise ecclesiastes 10 12
05:44the words of a wise man's mouth are gracious but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself so have you ever
05:53heard somebody just say something stupid without thinking you've probably done it before i've done it
05:58before and after you said it you think why did i say that that just didn't make any sense that's what
06:04the bible is saying is that sometimes we should sit there and think before we speak the older we get
06:10we have less of a filter we shouldn't do that we should think we should think how uh i preached a
06:17sermon a while you know several years ago that we should think before we speak because what we say may
06:24be something detrimental to somebody and it may not do any benefit you know do you have the authority
06:32to do that is it just somebody you know or do you have authority over that person if you're a parent
06:37obviously you have the authority but if you don't have the authority to tell somebody something
06:43is it going to help them is it going to help the situation by you telling somebody hey you're doing
06:47this wrong if you don't have the authority you know it's probably not going to do anything to help
06:53anything they're just going to be mad at you basically so we need to realize some of the
06:57things we say and that's what the bible is teaching us here is that we should think before we speak the
07:03beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness and at the end of his talk is mischievous madness
07:08so it's talking about a fool when he speaks it's foolishness but then by the end it's mischievous
07:14madness means that it is it hurts somebody you know and again there's nothing wrong with telling
07:21somebody you know god tells us things to do and we don't like to hear those things when we're doing
07:26wrong but if you don't have the authority to do so then you're probably wasting your time so i got
07:33several points uh go to first corinthians 3 we're starting a new book first corinthians
07:40wednesday will be starting first corinthians 1 but uh look at first corinthians 3 verse 16
07:54know you not that ye are the temple of god so your body is the temple of god and that the spirit
08:01of god dwelleth in you so the body that god gave you it is the temple of god jesus was talking before
08:09he was crucified and if you remember he said three days this temple is going to be destroyed and
08:15risen up again he was talking about his body and like just like christ we're supposed to be an example
08:21of our body being a temple if any man defile the temple of god him shall god destroy for the temple
08:29of god is holy which temple ye are and he's trying to give us an example of you know back in the the
08:37old testament when they did have the temple nobody defiled it the people who defiled it they
08:43you know god punished him greatly and they're trying to give the example for a body let no man deceive
08:50himself if any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world let him become a fool that he may be wise
08:58so the bible is teaching us here that people who think they're wise in this world the wisdom of this
09:03world and they say i know what the word what we need to do the world says this the world says that
09:08that you've got to make yourself that you're going to make yourself a fool to be wise what does that
09:14mean to make people think that you're wise you're going to say foolish stuff and it's all against god
09:21in the bible for the wisdom of this world is foolishness with god you can find the so-called wisest
09:27man with the highest iq in this world and you ask them about stuff and the first thing they're going to
09:32tell you is god's not real they're going to tell you because nobody intelligent i'm telling you there's
09:38very few people intelligent that will tell you oh you believe in a god you know we just live our life
09:45whatever when we die nothing happens we go in the grave that's what they'll tell you because they'll tell
09:50you the world will tell you to believe in something that you can't touch and feel and see scientifically
09:57is stupid but the bible's telling us here that the wisdom of the world is foolishness with god god sees
10:04that man is so foolish and stupid that it's not even funny for it is written he take it the wise in
10:11their own craftiness the bible talks about taking the the smartest people and let them think about their
10:18craftiness and using it against him because they're not humble that's why and again the lord knoweth the
10:25thoughts of the wise and that they are vain so all the thoughts that they have they're useless because
10:32they have nothing to do with god therefore let no man glory in men for all things are yours so we should
10:38never glory in any man and it doesn't wrong with with telling somebody hey you did a good job you did this
10:46you did that but the bible is telling us here you should never put anybody on a pedestal because
10:51eventually guess what they're gonna fail all men are gonna fail we should put the christ on a pedestal
10:58you want somebody as an example read the bible read what christ did from matthew mart luke and john
11:04and see what he did and you can put him on a pedestal because every single man you put me on a pedestal you
11:11you know i will fail you because i am a human being you put your parents on a pedestal you know we should
11:17glory our parents but we should not put on pedestal there's some things that your parents would tell
11:21you hey don't do this like me you know don't do this because i messed up we should not do every
11:27single thing that our parents did but we should look at what they did good and we should follow
11:32them we should obey him as a child but we should not glory in any man for all things are ours whether
11:40paul or apollos or cephas or the world or life or death or things present things that come to
11:48are all are yours and ye are christ and christ is god so again the god the father told jesus christ
11:57that he was going to have to die on the cross and then once you believe on christ you are his that's
12:02what the bible is teaching us here so what is the the wisdom the wisdom of the world says if you will
12:09turn to leviticus 19 that it's not a big deal for you to have a tattoo in fact uh years ago i was
12:16looking up on the internet i was looking up to see what people were saying because i met a guy and he
12:22had a his favorite bible verse and he had jesus and a cross and all this stuff and he told me he said
12:29well god wants me to have these things on me to witness to people and i said well you know that's
12:35that's great you know it's better than you putting you know some kind of snake or scorpion or demon or
12:43pentagram or whatever but that's not what the bible teaches the wisdom of the world says hey it's okay
12:49you know for you to put jesus's name on there or cross or whatever but what does the bible say look at
12:54leviticus 19. remember it can't be both ways you can't say don't do this but it's okay to do this it just
13:03does not work with god folks and again if you got a tattoo let me just go ahead and tell you you got
13:09ten tattoos don't get eleven you know stop there maybe you didn't know i learned as a as a young
13:15child that you're not supposed this is your body and people tell you it's not a big deal look at
13:20leviticus 19 you tell me 19 verse 28 you shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead now
13:30if you get a tattoo what do you have to do you have to cut your flesh they use ink and they use
13:36a needle and it cuts your flesh people who get tattoos in prison they take some kind of pin and
13:42they cut your flesh and eventually it makes a scar and that's what leaves it okay that's what the bible
13:48says and people try to justify this and say well i'm not putting a dead person now i'm putting somebody
13:53alive but i'm putting a cross i'm putting my favorite bible verse nor print any marks
14:00no marks upon you for i am the lord again and and i've asked people go to uh 21 same chapter i mean
14:09same book leviticus 21 5
14:13they shall not make baldness upon their head neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard
14:20nor make any cuttings in their flesh so again and people will try to justify this and say see
14:26people were cutting themselves for the dead that's not what it's talking about folks it's talking
14:31about people cutting things to remember people in their body because the next thing it says in 28
14:39nor print any marks so there was probably a time where people were putting dead people's names on
14:46them but then there's a point in time where they're just putting whatever on there printing a mark would
14:50be a cross print the mark would be a scorpion or whatever even a bible verse folks let's just not
14:56see how close we can get to violating god's word but my question to people are about this would you take
15:04a knife and carve something inside of the church building because it's a temple right i mean that's what
15:10it says don't carve anything in your body if this is a temple and you say well it's okay is it okay for
15:17you to go out there and carve a cross on the outside or carve your name or a friend of yours name or
15:22whatever the answer is no it is not that's why god's giving us an example of your temple your body
15:30taking care of it but the world says no it's not a big deal that's the wisdom of the world god's wisdom
15:36is don't do it and again you may have 10 tattoos i'm telling you today don't get number 11 for
15:41whatever it costs a lot of money when you get older you get this butterfly and by the time you get older
15:47it turns into a bat because your skin stretches it's a pretty little butterfly when you're 18 but then
15:53when it grows out and your you your body grows out guess what now it's not it looks like a bat or some
15:59kind of pterodactyl you just shouldn't do it uh number two uh the foolishness of the world is abortion
16:05when go to exodus 21. exodus 20. i just talked to a young man the other day about him living with
16:15his girlfriend and what i was trying to explain to him is look he said well we're not ready it's not
16:21time she wants to finish school all this other stuff i know i need to do it and i told him i said well you
16:27know you're saved you're going to be punished he said i know that i know that and i said well you know
16:33you got to think about what's going to happen in the future because you don't know but what does the
16:39bible say exodus 21 22 it says if men strive and hurt a woman with child so that they're her fruit
16:51talking about her child depart from her and yet mischief follow yet no mischief follows so
16:58he shall be surely punished so this is just let's say they're in a car wreck and the child gets hurt
17:05and the child dies and there's no mischief what happens they're still punished according as the
17:11woman's husband will lay upon him and he shall pay as the judge is determined so the husband would be
17:16asked and say hey this your baby died what do you think should happen and whatever he thinks
17:24he would tell the judges and if any mischief follow then thou shalt give life for life so what does
17:31that mean if there is some kind of mischief with a baby you know maybe there's a fight or whatever
17:37and there was some kind of mischief and the baby dies horse playing or whatever what does it say life for
17:44life that person that calls that should die so what does this ending it goes on to say eye for eye tooth
17:52for tooth and hand for hand foot for foot burning for burning wound for wound stripe for stripe and if
17:58any man smite the eye of his servant and the eye of his maid and perish and that it perish then he shall
18:04let him go free for his eye's sake if he smite out his man's servant's tooth or his maid's servant's tooth he
18:10shall let him go free for his tooth's sake folks this is the word of god this is god's law and when jesus christ
18:17comes back after we're raptured and we come back on the earth for a thousand years guess what
18:22these laws are going to be in place people say that's stupid here people say eye for an eye
18:28tooth for a tooth that's dumb that don't make any sense but folks this is what the bible says
18:35so i'm here to tell you the way god looks at these abortion clinics a doctor who commits an abortion guess
18:40what that's right there that there's some kind of mischief there's some kind of mission where they're
18:46taking tongs and scraping out body parts and all that stuff with babies folks it's just literally
18:52disgusting but that's what it says these doctors these nurses that are doing this they should die
18:58that's what it says but my point is is that i was trying to tell the young man's look you know what
19:05happens if she gets pregnant oh we're taking precautions yeah whatever okay whatever 99 affected
19:11that's what it is but the other thing is what if she gets pregnant and she says i don't want to have
19:17this child not even committing fornication and murder we don't think about those things why because the
19:26world has made it easy for us to sin that's what the world's wisdom is uh go to deuteronomy 24
19:35the other thing is divorce you know used to when people talked about divorce it was just
19:40you know people were just disgusted all these things and in the you know the early 60s and 50s
19:48you just you couldn't get a divorce it was not that easy and again just like the tattoos just like
19:53whatever i'm preaching god's word folks don't get all upset if you've been divorced three four times
19:59don't make it a fifth time stay with the person you're with but i'm just showing you what the bible
20:03says because that's what my job is don't get all mad because there's young people here that they may be
20:08thinking about marriage and they need to know what god says about it before they decide to get
20:14married is that important and that's what i was telling that young man too look if you don't love
20:18her and you you're just trying to do what you think is right don't marry somebody because when you divorce
20:25them god does not look favorably on that look at uh deuteronomy 24 1 when a man has taken a wife
20:35and married her and it come to pass that she he she find no favor in his eyes because he has found
20:42some uncleanness in her let him write her a bill of divorcement and give it in her hand and send her
20:49out of the house and when she is the part out of his house she may go and marry another man's wife
20:54so the bible says for whatever reason a divorcement they want to be divorced from the marriage
21:00she can go and marry another man that's what it says does god like it no he does not i'll show you
21:06that in a minute and if the latter husband hate her and write her bill of divorcement and give it in
21:14her hand and send it throughout of his house and the latter husband die which he took to be his wife
21:20her former husband which sent her away may not take her again to be his wife after she is defiled for
21:28that is an abomination before the lord and that shall not cause the land to sin which the lord
21:33thy god giveth thee for an inheritance so what does the bible say the bible says if somebody gets divorced
21:40and they get married to another man and that man dies or whatever then she is not it is absolutely
21:48forbidden for her to go back to that first husband i don't know why that's just what the bible says but
21:56you have people sometimes uh i've heard of preachers before and say hey it's biblical for you to go back
22:02to your first husband no it is actually the opposite you're not supposed to do that it's an abomination
22:08what's abomination something really bad that god hates okay i mean you can look at the word
22:13abomination see all the things that are abomination a man lying with another man a woman lying with an
22:20animal all these things are abomination unto god so this is in the same category that this is very
22:26bad i don't know why that's just the way it is we should not tell people that you know again if you've
22:32been divorced before i'm not trying to beat up on you i'm just showing you god's word you should be
22:36glad that somebody has the guts to get up here and tell you what the bible says so other people cannot
22:42make the same mistake if i could do that and go back in time and change some of the things that i did
22:47wrong i would do that but i you can't do that go to genesis 2. genesis 2. first book in the bible
22:56genesis 2. so what does god want what is his plan what is the perfect plan plan a for a young woman
23:04what is it the bible spells that out look at genesis 2 verse 21 and the lord god caused a deep sleep to
23:12fall upon adam and he slept and he took out one of his ribs talking about the lord jesus christ he pulled
23:19out a rib out of adam and closed out the flesh instead thereof and the rib which the lord god had taken
23:26from man he made he made he a woman and brought her unto the man and adam said this is now bone of my bones
23:35and flesh of my flesh she shall be called woman because she was taken out a man folks this is the
23:43whole reason why when a woman gets married and take the vow she takes a man's last name is to be is to
23:51show the reason there's no hyphen in your last name it's to show that they've taken part of that man
23:58just like god took the rib out of adam and put made eve out of that rib that's exactly what it's
24:06talking about that she was made out of man and you may not like that but that's just what god's word
24:12says you may say no i'm a woman oh you know whatever i'll roar whatever that's not what god intended
24:20we need to understand that that god's perfect plan is what look at verse 24 therefore a man shall a man
24:26leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh you can see all
24:33throughout the bible when jacob he's going around the nation trying to find a wife and he finds uh leah
24:40which he was looking for rachel first and he was deceived but that was because god was paying him
24:45back because he deceived his father but what happened he's looking for a wife guess what she's not at some
24:53college rachel's not at university of jerusalem where she at she's at home with her father and
24:59mother and what is jacob when he feels like he's old enough to get married he finds his wife he does
25:05that that's what god's plan is is for a woman a young girl to stay with her mother and father until
25:11she's ready to get married that's what god wants it's not to go to um to the university for them to learn
25:20how to hate god to learn that god's not real go to genesis 34 let me give an example of that
25:27you say yeah but i want better for my kids i want them to go to college and learn this and learn that
25:32whatever i'm again i'm just showing you what the bible says you can make the decision once you leave
25:36these doors you can decide whatever you want to do it's not on me my rewards in heaven is because i
25:43showed you what the bible says and what god said and not my interpretation but god's interpretation
25:49whatever you decide is whatever you decide again it's not on me it's your decision but let me tell you
25:55about a young lady named dinah who which was leah's daughter which was jacob's daughter and what did she
26:04do look at genesis 34 1 and dinah the daughter of leah which she bare unto jacob went out to see the
26:12daughters of the land what did she do hey let me go see what's at the university let me go see what is
26:17she supposed to stay with jacob and leah but she does not she goes out to see what's happening what's
26:23the world look like let me spread my wings and grow my roots or whatever that's been said and when shechem
26:32the son of hamor the hivite prince of the country saw her he took her and lay with her and defiled her so
26:40he's already committed fornication with her and it's so clave unto dinah the daughter of jacob and
26:46he loved the damsel and spake kindly into the damsel so he just didn't defile her he loves her and he
26:53wants to marry her and shechem spake unto his father and to his father hamor saying give me this damsel
27:02to wife he said i want to marry her and jacob heard that he had defiled dinah his daughter
27:09now his sons were with it with his cattle in the field and jacob held his peace until they were come
27:16so jacob didn't say anything until they got there he probably knew what's fixing to happen
27:22and hamor the father of shechem went out unto jacob to commune with him so the father of the man who
27:29defiled his daughter his i guess her future father-in-law she comes to meet with jacob and
27:35says hey my son wants to marry your daughter is that okay let's do that and the sons of jacob came
27:42out to the field where they heard it and the men were grieved that they were wroth because he had wrought
27:48folly in israel and lying with jacob's daughter which ought not to be done well what is the problem well
27:53first of all jacob when he went out to find his his wife he went to one of his family members that's
28:02what god had wanted him back then i don't know why so the hivites are one of these groups of people
28:08that god did not want them to mingle with because they worshiped other gods not because they were
28:13different not because they're different colored or different whatever it's because they worship a
28:17different god and god did not want them to come against them and start worshiping them so basically
28:24i'll give you the brief synopsis of it hamor and jacob meet and he says hey my daughter wants to my son
28:32wants to marry your daughter we can start trading together and giving each other possessions and all
28:39this stuff and start being friends and the sons say what i go down to verse um 13 and the sons of jacob
28:49so this is dinah's brothers answered shechem and hamor his father deceitfully and said because he had
28:56defiled their sister so deceitfully because they know there's something they're going to do wrong
29:02against him and they said unto them we cannot do this thing to give our sister to
29:07one that is uncircumcised for that were a reproach unto us but in this we will consent unto you if you
29:16would be if ye will be as we be means circumcised every man of you will be circumcised then will we
29:25give you our daughters unto you and we will take your daughters to us and we will dwell with them
29:31and we will become one people but if you will not hearken unto us to be circumcised then will we take
29:39our daughter and we will be gone so what is the bible saying the bible is saying look if you
29:46the sons of jacob her brothers are saying look you want to get married you got to get circumcised
29:53these are grown men you know uh all of jacob's sons were circumcised a day at day eight of them being
30:00born these are grown men very painful i'm sure go to verse down to verse 24 well they agreed to it
30:11and hamor and shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of the city and every male was
30:17circumcised every male all that went out of the gate of the city so every single one of them
30:25were circumcised and it came to pass on the third day when they were sore i bet that two of the sons
30:31of jacob simeon and levi donna's brother took each man his sword and came upon the city boldly and slew
30:40all the males so again what happened fornication blit bread death murder and they slew hamor and
30:50shechem his son with the edge of the sword and took dine out of shechem's house and went out and the sons
30:55of jacob came upon the slain and spoiled the city because they had defiled their sister they took their
31:01sheep and their oxen and their asses and that which was in the city and that which was in the field and
31:07all their wealth and all their little ones and their wives took their captive and spoiled every
31:11one of them every even all that was in their house and jacob said to simeon and levi these are two guys
31:18that did all the killing ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land
31:26among the canaanites and the parisites and i being few in number they shall gather themselves together
31:33against me and slay me and i shall be destroyed in my house and what do they say back in return
31:39and they said should we deal with our sister as with a harlot
31:45so they're not worried about it they're saying they're more worried they're acting like they're
31:50more worried about dinah what happened to her and again everybody has a different situation but i'm just
31:56telling you what god's word says plan a is for a woman to stay with her parents until she meets somebody
32:03and get married and then that man provide for her that's what the bible says things happen people
32:10have different things in their life people go away people go off to the military and whatever and
32:14women have to uh do things for themselves divorce happens they have to whatever but i'm telling you
32:22what plan a for that god has for woman is you don't like it that's that's tough so what we see here
32:30is that her virginity was taken away but then that led to murder all these men were murdered they had
32:37no reason to be killed they had no reason to be killed and then what else stealing they stole every
32:42single cattle and the children kidnapping i mean that's what it does go to james 1
32:49see people think oh well this sin that's not a big deal it's just against myself which actually
33:00is against god every scene you do is against god it's not a big deal it's just me it's not really
33:06affecting anybody folks that's a lie of the devil every scene that you do is affecting some other family
33:14member or friend or whatever look at james 1 and not only that this little bitty sin that the devil
33:21tells you is not a big deal it's going to breed into something else sin breeds more sin understand
33:26that that little sin is going to breed into a big sin james 1 verse 12 this is the half brother of jesus
33:38blessed is the man that endureth temptation so when we're tempted with sin or whatever it's saying
33:44blessed are you when when you go through it and that you you come out of it
33:51for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life which the lord has promised to them that love
33:56him let no man say when he is tempted i'm tempted of god for god cannot be tempted with evil so let nobody
34:03say well god's tempting me of sin because that's not what's happening we saw in job where god comes
34:10to say satan comes to god and says i bet i can do this it's satan that does it you can put it on him
34:16it's not god but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust so when you desire to do
34:24what you want to do that's when you're tempted and enticed lust means desire whatever you say well i don't
34:32want to do that i know god's word says this but i'd rather do this for my own self when lust has
34:39conceived what it conceived it means like you know when a woman's conceived she's going to have a child
34:44when lust builds up to something to be born of something else what is it it bringing forth sin
34:51so you can say the baby child of lust is what sin and then sin when it is finished bring forward
34:58death in what we saw that with dinah that death came next you had her being defiled even though
35:07the man he wants to marry her he loves her but the sons of jacob says that's not good enough we're
35:14going to kill these guys they kill them and they steal everything uh go to first corinthians 1
35:22so the wisdom of the world we've talked about
35:30is foolishness with god excuse me foolishness with god destroying your body with tattoos that's
35:37foolishness with god i mean with the world i mean that's that's the wisdom of the world
35:42that's not a big deal get an abortion people think it's not a big deal divorce going to college
35:49preaching of the cross look at first corinthians 1
35:53preaching of the cross you know you can ask people and you show them the gospel
36:00look at first corinthians 1 18 for the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness
36:10but unto us which are saved it is the power of god now the problem is is these new bible versions they
36:17say for the preaching of the cross it is them that are perishing are perishing well either you're
36:25dead or you're not either you're saved or you're not but the foolishness put on them which are are
36:31being saved folks raise your hand if you're being saved nobody's being saved either you're saved or
36:37you're not that's the problem with these new bible versions it is the power of god is that they make
36:43salvation into a process nobody is being saved either you're saved or you're not either you're
36:49going to heaven or you're not that's it's very simple for it is written i will destroy the wisdom
36:55of the wise and that we've seen and it will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent where's
37:01the wise where's the scribe where's the disputer of this world has god made foolish the wisdom of this
37:07world yes for after that in the wisdom of god the world by wisdom knew not god it pleased god by the
37:17foolishness of preaching to save them that believe for the jews require a sign you know you constantly see
37:26through matthew mart luke and john where the jews say give us a sign if you're jesus on the cross come off
37:31the cross give us a sign and what does it say the greeks wisdom they want wisdom just like the man men
37:41today they say show me the proof of jesus christ dying on the cross it's here in the bible show me
37:46something else but we preach christ crucified and to jews a stumbling block the jews any jew you ask
37:55still tell you what no it's not about jesus god one you know whatever that's a stumbling block to them

38:10but of them which are called both jews and greeks christ the power of god and the wisdom of god
38:15because the foolishness of god is wiser than men and the weakness of god is stronger than men so go to

38:32just got to believe that he died on the cross was buried and rose three days later and you're saved
38:36you think that's all you got to do well the book of john says over 101 times that's all you got to do
38:42nowhere does it say repent so romans 10 9 is probably the best example of the process of salvation
38:50and there is a process there's a not a process of being saved but there's a process to when people
39:00have to do and it's look at verse 9 in romans 10 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the lord
39:06jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that god raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved so the bible's
39:13clear if you believe that jesus died was buried and rose three days later you're saved and if you
39:21for with the heart man believes in the righteousness so you have somebody has to preach the gospel using
39:28god's word it's not my words i can't just go up to somebody and say hey jesus died on the cross for
39:33you they're not going to get saved folks i'm here to tell you it will not happen you've got to go to
39:38the bible you got to go to john 3 16 and read it or learn it and say for god so loved the world that
39:43he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish and then you've
39:48got to explain that you can't just give them the verse but when you give them that verse the holy
39:53spirit is pricking their heart and saying you got a chance you got an opportunity here if i just go to
39:59somebody and say hey and people do this all the time and they think people are getting saved but i'm
40:03here to tell you they are not you can't just use your words it's not my words it's the words of the
40:09holy spirit i can't just walk up to somebody and say hey let me explain to you about jesus the disciples
40:15could do that because they didn't have the bible we cannot we've got to use the words of the holy
40:20spirit these men when they would give the gospel to somebody then the holy spirit come upon them
40:26and they were speaking when they're speaking with tongues that's what they're doing not in tongues
40:31because that's not in the bible speaking with tongues is what they were it's like god was using
40:36their mouth themselves to speak in a foreign language in a different language the gospel
40:41to the people that's what happened in acts so i have to use the bible i have to use romans 3 23 to
40:47show somebody's a sinner i have to use romans 6 23 to tell them that because they're sinners they're
40:53going to die and go to hell that's their punishment everybody's and then rome then you know john 3 16 you
40:58have to show them these things you can't just use your words and say hey guess what jesus died on
41:03the cross for you that's not going to get people saved but that's what the bible is teaching us here
41:09and then what does it say for the heart man believes in the righteousness so you got to believe with your
41:15heart that what is the only way to be righteous is through the righteousness of jesus christ and we're
41:21just saying about the solid rock the first verses in his righteousness my hope is in his righteousness
41:28not yours not repenting of your sins not trusting that you're going to be a good enough person you
41:34will not and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation so after the heart believe in the
41:40righteousness through jesus christ you got to confess with your mouth
41:43and then what does it say for the scripture saith whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed
41:52for there is no difference between the jew and the greek the man that called himself a jew which is a
41:56religion now he's got to do the same thing the greek the same thing he has to do the same thing he has to
42:02believe on the lord jesus christ and he's going to die and go to hell oh what about god's chosen
42:07people they've already confessed to the lord jesus that's god's chosen people has nothing to do with
42:12your blood for the same lord over all is rich unto all they call upon him for whosoever shall call upon
42:18the name lord shall be saved how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how
42:23shall they believe in him whom they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher and how shall
42:29they preach except they be seen as it is written how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel
42:34of peace and being bring glad tidings of good things but they have not all obeyed the gospel
42:40for isaiah which is isaiah saith lord who has believed our report so then faith cometh by hearing and hearing
42:48by the word of god so the bible is clear you have to hear the word of god then you have to believe on
42:55it and then you have to call out to the lord and ask for it that's the last point is calling to the lord
43:02by faith and i've got a good example of this let's say that somebody tells you hey you've got a really
43:08bad disease you're going to die this disease there's nothing you can do there's no diet you can get
43:13there's no pills you can get there's nothing you can do to fix this disease you will die you say okay
43:20i guess i'm going to die there's nothing i can do about it and they say but wait a minute there's one
43:24doctor on this whole planet there's one person that can heal you but you've got to believe that he can
43:31heal you so first you got to believe that that person can heal you then you got to call up or
43:36whatever make an appointment say hey doc i believe that you can heal me when can we do this they have
43:42to call out to him it's the same thing as salvation you got to believe that the only person that can
43:47save you from your sins is the lord jesus christ and once you believe because the bible says how can
43:52they call on him who they've not heard how can they believe on him and then when they hear that and they
43:57believe that and call upon the lord jesus christ to be saved and ask to be saved they will be saved
44:04that's what it is go to james 3 but to the world that's foolishness oh you just tell me all i got
44:11to do is believe in jesus and go to heaven i don't believe that well then you're going to die and go to
44:15james 3 god makes it pretty simple and it's because it's so simple people just don't believe it
44:26james 3 verse 11
44:35james i'm sorry verse 13 who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you let him show out of a good
44:42conversation so it has nothing to do with your words it has to do with your lifestyle that's what
44:46conversation means he's saying if you're a wise man prove it with your lifestyle with meekness of
44:54wisdom with we i'm sorry his works with meekness of wisdom uh james 3 14 if you have bitter envying
45:04and strife in your hearts glory not and lie not against the truth the wisdom descendeth not from above but
45:11is earthly sensual or devilish so if your wisdom has to do with anything with envying wanting
45:19something that somebody else has or strife anger in your hearts it's not from god i mean that's
45:25pretty simple it's from the devil but where envying and strife is there is confusion in every evil work
45:32so how do you know the question is how do i know if it's wisdom of the world or wisdom of god
45:38well verse 17 tells us but the wisdom that is from above so talking about heaven is first pure so the
45:46first thing that we need to know that wisdom of god is pure it's complete there's nothing evil about
45:54it there's nothing wrong about it then peaceable so it's going to bring peace not with other man
46:01but with god so you can't can't say well uh you know if i do this and it's a sin i'm having peaceful
46:11man no no no no we're talking about peaceable with god gentle and easy to be entreated so entreated
46:21is to be asked honestly for so if you can't honestly sit down and ask god for it or then there's something
46:30wrong it's not of god and then what's the next part full of mercy and good fruits what is mercy mercy
46:38is when we don't get what we deserve so god's grace is that we don't go to hell
46:44because that's what we deserve god's mercy is that he has enough mercy that he died on the cross for
46:51it that we deserve uh we don't deserve mercy you know it's like when you throw yourself on the mercy of the
46:58court i you know this is what happened sorry i'm throwing myself on the mercy of the court that's what it's
47:04talking about and good fruits without partiality means that it's not just one group you know that's what
47:12people don't get about the jews god's chosen people that's not of god because it's not one group of
47:18people the one group of people is the ones who have believed on the lord jesus christ at some point in
47:24time they put their trust in the lord and then you have people say we're in old testament they didn't
47:28have the lord jesus christ you just don't understand the bible if you say that his name wasn't jesus but
47:32he's lord l-o-r-d um and he's in flesh without hypocrisy what does that mean
47:41hypocrisy is when you tell somebody hey you shouldn't drink and you got a beer in your hand
47:47or you should tell somebody hey you need to start coming to church and you don't come to church you
47:51need to start praying the bible says now look when i get up here and preach it's not me telling you i'm
47:56telling you i'm not a perfect person if you think that you got a problem so don't ever get mad at me
48:03and say well i know how you really live because i live in the same house with you folks i'm telling you
48:08what the bible says it's gotten i'm not pointing my finger to pretend it's jesus christ pointing his finger
48:14because he is perfect hypocrisy is when somebody tells you to do something and they're doing the opposite
48:20or they're not doing it that's what hypocrisy is and without hypocrisy means that it's without hypocrisy
48:27it's of god it's not of the world and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make
48:34peace so all these things when you go through verse 17 and you look at it you look at uh you know
48:42destroying your body with tattoos is that peaceable no i don't like needles they hurt that ain't gentle
48:50i'm it's not gentle it's not peaceable it's not pure again not beating up on people who've got
48:56tattoos i'm just telling you what the bible says don't get that next one the next thing is what abortion
49:03that's definitely not peaceable there's nothing pure about killing a baby there's nothing i mean
49:09there's nothing more pure than a baby and you're just pulling their body parts off with tongs there's
49:14nothing pure about that there's nothing peaceable about that uh divorce you're hurting somebody
49:21you're hurting your family members you're hurting another person you're hurting yourself you're hurting
49:25your relationship between you and god there's nothing peaceable and merciful of that
49:30again being in a divorce i'm not beating up you i'm trying to tell the young people today
49:36what god says and that you will be held accountable much is given much is required you know going out
49:42and seeing the college what does god say he's saying stay with your parents until you get married
49:50that's the peaceable thing preaching to the cross well that's foolishness for people but you know what
49:56going to hell there's nothing peaceable by hell and if people don't understand that it's just believing
50:02on the lord jesus christ they're going to die and go to hell let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer
