00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr. has vetoed the proposed law granting Filipino citizenship to Liduan Wang.

00:07According to Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Attorney Claire Castro,

00:13the chief executive did not disregard the alarming warnings concerning Wang's identity,

00:18noting that he could pose a potential threat.

00:21The president emphasized that Filipino citizenship is a privilege, not something that should be granted lightly,

00:27and stressed that it must not be used as a tool to advance suspicious personal interests.

00:33Meanwhile, Senator Risa Ontiveros welcomed the president's decision,

00:36describing it as appropriate and reflective of the government's commitment to upholding the sanctity of Filipino citizenship.

00:44Liduan Wang, also known as Mark Ong, is currently under scrutiny for his alleged links to Philippine offshore gaming operators, or Pogo,

00:52and questionable personal records.
