This is Nirmala, a 67-year-old woman suffering from Parkinson's disease,

Specialist doctors successfully treated the elderly woman through an advanced surgical

technique called Deep Brain Stimulation or DBS. This marks the first case of its kind in Uttarakhand
00:46
and nearby regions. Deep Brain Stimulation involves implanting a device that sends
00:51
electrical impulses to specific areas of the brain, essentially working like a pacemaker for the brain.
01:11
The patient remained awake throughout most of the procedure without anesthesia,
01:15
while the neuroanesthesia team was continuously monitoring the patient closely. This procedure
01:20
was completed in seven hours.
