Mount Panorama is an iconic location for all Australians.
00:11
So many of us, if you don't attend, tune in and watch the great race every year.
00:16
But we are seeing new opportunities through 24-hour races, 6-hour races, 12-hour races.
00:21
And it is important that we continue to invest in infrastructure that delivers real return to locals here,
00:29
not only right across the Central West about putting Bathurst and the Central West on the map internationally,
00:36
but we have the infrastructure and the commitment to invest and upgrade this infrastructure into the future.
00:43
It's an exciting day and I think it is one where anyone that follows motorsport across this country can appreciate.
00:50
This is iconic to Australia and to New South Wales and it's important we do keep pace
00:56
with the improvements that need to make sure it's a world class track.
01:00
And the economic impact that this has on Bathurst is significant and to the Central West.
01:05
So this is an investment in the people of Bathurst but also the council.
01:08
Just understand that we're a small regional council.
01:11
They don't always have the financial capacity to make these sort of capital investments
01:16
in what is critical infrastructure for their economic survival.
01:19
So to the Mayor Stumpy, this is an investment in you, your community and the Central West.
01:24
But I'm also here today, this today is a historic day for Regional Australia.
01:29
Today I'm announcing the Regional Australia Future Fund.
01:33
Finally, there will be no more funding gaps for Regional Australia.
01:37
We're not going to have to fight over the scraps year after year trying to get that little bit extra
01:41
to make sure that we have the amenity of life that people in capital cities enjoy and take for granted.
