00:00
Tommy, a late sucker punch tonight with Boston scoring the winner in stoppage time to win 2-1.
00:07
A competitive game against a direct Boston side, thoughts on that?
00:11
Exactly what you just said there, we just didn't manage to topple them by scoring another goal
00:17
because I thought another goal would have done that but fair play to them, they stuck at it.
00:21
They got their goal as they probably thought they would in terms of long throw, dropped around and poked in.
00:26
They've hit us with a counter attack right at the death when we were probably a little lacking in our discipline at the back.
00:34
It's disappointing to lose the game but we just push it to one side and move on to the next one like we normally do.
00:40
And obviously with the busy schedule you've had and the efforts put in on Saturday,
00:47
you obviously had to make some changes tonight but are you pleased with people who came in?
00:50
I think there's a lot of positives to be added.
00:52
It's good to get minutes into Olly Bray from the first start for a while for him.
00:58
Keane Anderson obviously as well getting a few more minutes.
01:01
Kai Corbett, James Henry even getting more minutes into him.
01:05
There are positives to take from the game.
01:07
It's just, as other people found at the weekend, when the game is taken away from you right at the end of the game,
01:13
it just feels worse. That's what it does and it's not a nice feeling.
01:17
So we've got to try and get that out of our system as quick as we can and bounce back onto the training ground on Thursday morning
01:23
and be positive in the way we think, where we plan and the way we attack the game at York on Saturday.
01:29
Obviously that late sack of punch always does hurt but with the good run you've been on,
01:34
confidence will still be good in the group, won't it?
01:37
I hope so. There's no way in the world a loss, I think that's three in about 14 games or something like that.
01:44
We're not going to worry about losing a football match, you know, that's in the rules that you can lose.
01:49
It's how you lose and the lads will be disappointed.
01:52
I know the staff are disappointed because one or two of them have aired their views
01:57
but we win together, we lose together, it's as simple as that.
02:01
We've got to move on as quickly as we can, there's a game in three or four days.
02:04
Thankfully now that's it in terms of Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday but the schedule doesn't get much easier
02:09
and that is, what is it now, it's Saturday, Friday, Monday.
02:13
So yeah, it's been a tough gig for the players and for the staff.
02:18
There's a lot of work behind the scenes going on in the prep, you know, in the diligence of looking at other teams
02:24
but that's what we're in the job for so, you know, we go again on Thursday.
02:28
And it's been a sort of thick and fast run and a competitive Boston side, you have to sort of match them
02:35
and you know, you did match the intensity with them, you know, you went with them
02:39
and got the lead just before half-time through Tyler Frost and so yeah, what were sort of the thoughts at half-time there?
02:44
Well, we knew it was going to be the same second half, they weren't going to change the way they played, they had the slope.
02:49
So we knew they were going to put it at us and we just had to hope that we saw out the first 10-15 minutes of the second half,
02:56
which we did do, then we had our little spells ourselves, but we just didn't manage to get that second goal
03:01
before they managed to get an equaliser and that sometimes is the turning, you know, the momentum to shift if you like.
03:08
In fairness to their lads, they got more attacking as the game went on with the substitutes that they made
03:14
because they have to win the game, probably in their eyes.
03:18
Well, if they want to win the game, it's not, you know, our life doesn't depend on me at this moment in time.
03:23
So, like I said, we've been punched in the nose today, after punching somebody else in the nose the other day.
03:30
Yeah, so it literally flips within 70 hours, doesn't it?
03:33
Yeah, that's football.
03:34
And so, yeah, we grew up on Thursday and then a long trip to York, but obviously tour of duty,
03:39
so, you know, a big day for the fans and look to get back on the horse there.
03:43
Yeah, they've got a couple of nice away days to look forward to, to be honest with you.
03:47
You know, going to York and then going to...
03:50
Woking.
03:51
And then, and Barnet.
03:52
So, from that point of view, you know, there's three big fixtures away from home,
03:55
but we've still got two at all.
03:57
We all get, you know, a really good crowd here because obviously everybody will, by then,
04:02
will be, you know, getting themselves ready for the big idea right at the end of the season.
04:06
But, as I said, going into the semi-final, you know, we try best we can to be putting that to the back burner
04:12
and just concentrate on the next game.
04:14
Like I said, we take the bloody nose today and we move on as quickly as we can.
