00:00Wood could revolutionize the wind energy industry.

00:03Most wind towers are built of a combination of steel and concrete,

00:07which emit tons of carbon dioxide during production.

00:10But building towers out of wood could make them cleaner and more efficient.

00:15Engineered wood have a lot of strength per weight.

00:19And as you go taller, larger structures in a heavy material,

00:23such as concrete or steel,

00:25then you need to make a stronger tower to handle the weight of the tower itself.

00:30But using wood, we get the same strength with 30% less weight.

00:36Modvion uses wood to make light modules

00:39that are easier to transport and assemble on site.

00:43Modular steel towers, you get 50,000 bolts

00:46that need re-tensioning throughout the tower.

00:49We just glue our modules together.

00:51And it becomes another bigger tree.
