00:00Three Filipinos were arrested in China because of espionage.

00:05Based on a state-owned newspaper, China Daily,

00:09espionage is being carried out near military facilities

00:13that are under military deployment under the order of an intelligence operative in the Philippines.

00:19The activity was also admitted by Filipino suspects.

00:23According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry,

00:25they were forced to file a case that the Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the complaint of the three Filipinos arrested.

00:34The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance to the so-called Filipinos,

00:38including legal support.

00:40The DFA is also urging the Chinese government to have a due process.

00:46The AFP recognizes the importance of espionage and is ready to provide support.

00:51According to a security expert, it should be investigated thoroughly.

00:58For me, our espionage is not state-sponsored.

01:04We know that even if we have territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea,

01:09this is not the goal of our government and this is not our strategy.

01:14We know that China is strong when it comes to cyber security

01:19and we should be careful when it comes to these things.

01:23It is possible that China will take advantage of this,

01:26especially following the arrest of Chinese nationals here in the Philippines

01:31because of espionage, which has reached more than 10 this year.

01:37This is a retaliatory act and this should not happen.

01:45The two countries should discuss the mitigations

01:49because our problem is only escalating when it comes to this.

01:53Cabal also instructed the Filipinos in China to be careful.

01:57They may be involved in this.

02:01But we have mechanisms on how we can protect them.

02:06Our embassy is there to help them.

02:09We are also asking our government to provide all the needs of our fellow Filipinos

02:17who are in danger of being arrested.

02:19Our fellow Filipinos cannot be arrested when it comes to this situation.

02:25Meanwhile, the West Philippine Sea may be affected if Taiwan is completely destroyed,

02:32according to a maritime law expert.

02:34It is possible for the artificial islands built by China to be used.

02:39The ones in Mischief Reef, Fiery Cross, and one more,

02:46those military bases will surely be used

02:51by other countries that may want to help Taiwan

02:57or at the very least, for the maritime trade to go to Taiwan.

03:03We will be affected by this because they will necessarily interfere in our maritime trade.

03:10The military drills of China around Taiwan have been completed,

03:14where the government of Mischief Reef was the first to respond

03:17and minimized the contingency plan in response to the OFWs there.
