Guide to Glasgow’s Duke Street in Dennistoun

We take you round some of the best food and shopping spots on Duke Street.

00:00I have lived in Deniston for two years now and I'm even more of an expert on this area

00:04So I'm going to take you along Duke Street and show you some of my personal

00:07Recommendations, spots I like to visit when I've got free time. Up first is Tebow

00:12They do a good coffee and good brunch. They have outdoor seating and nice big windows

00:16So it's a lovely place to go when the weather's nice

00:18Then if you go slightly around the corner from here to Whitehall Street, you'll find the iconic shop

00:23It's a non-profit social enterprise and they're actually in the process of changing to a non-alcoholic bar

00:29Where they'll serve various kinds of drinks

00:31It's a really cool idea as I don't think anywhere else in Glasgow actually does this. A couple of doors along from this is Madame

00:37Coco's boutique

00:38Which is very high quality true vintage clothing all hand selected by the owner who has very good taste

00:44One of my favorite places to shop. Back on Duke Street then across the road is Zeno

00:48It has a really cool and creative drinks menu

00:51I usually go for the matcha. Lots of delicious baked goods and a really high quality food menu

00:56There are small tables at the front

00:58But the back area is a larger communal space and that's where I sometimes sit to get some work done

01:02And then there's Koya's, one of the oldest restaurants in the city and one of the best. Really authentic Italian foods

01:09I also like to visit for gelato in the summertime. My favorite spot for an alcoholic drink is probably Redmond's

01:15They play LPs and the atmosphere is always very good

01:18They also have a large beer selection and then I would also go to the Palais

01:22But we're not going to go to any of these today

01:25And then Mesa, my favorite lunch spot. It gets very busy at the weekends and it's walk-ins only

01:31So sometimes you need to give your number and come back. I got the hummus this time

01:35Everything is homemade with really high quality ingredients. They also do excellent sandwiches and soup
