00:00There were not going to be anyone, because since Mexico doesn't impose tariffs on the

00:10U.S., the U.S. would not impose tariffs on Mexico.

00:16I said that from the last call that we had with President Trump.

00:20I said at the Zócalo in Mexico City, and obviously, of course, with its own characteristics

00:27that has to do for the car industry and steel and aluminum.

00:32But it's very important that everything is known, everything that remains with zero tariffs

00:39within the trade agreement with the United States, the treaty among Canada, the United

00:46States, and Mexico.

00:48That's why I invite the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, so he can speak about all

00:53this, and also about the negotiations and dialogue that exists with the U.S. government

01:02in terms of trade, particularly.

01:03On the other hand, it's important that you know that today at noon, we called a meeting,

01:12a broad meeting, where governors, legislators, businessmen, workers, representatives, union

01:24representatives, and representatives of indigenous people is going to be there, a broad meeting.

01:33The objective of this meeting is obviously, well, if there were something else for Mexico,

01:39we had some other statements and proposals, but I've been saying that we have a plan.

01:47So the plan for strengthening national economy and the well-being of the people of Mexico

01:52is a plan that we have been developing and has to do with Plan Mexico.

01:59So we're going to move forward many of the actions within this plan, and that's where

02:03we are going to present today at noon at the Anthropology Museum.

02:09In the meanwhile, I call on the Secretary of Economy to explain, Marcelo, the reach

02:16of what was presented yesterday, and also what has to do with the industry of cars and

02:23steel and aluminum.

02:28Good morning.

02:29With your permission, Mr. President, if we can go to the next – this map is so that

02:47it's easier to have a picture of what is happening yesterday, and then I'm going

02:58to add to what was previously announced.

03:02So we have a new commerce system in the world.

03:07It's not the same of tariffs, favor, as for all in the beginning.

03:13The United States has 14 free trade agreements, but the only case where tariffs were not imposed

03:24is in the one that has to do with the treaty Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

03:29In the rest, they were applied.

03:32So it's another commerce system.

03:38What the President is saying in this new commerce strategy was that Mexico has to achieve a

03:46preferential treatment.

03:47It means that we have better conditions to compete.

03:53Everything has to be thought in relation to everyone else, who has – who can have more

03:59tariffs, and what product can be more expensive in terms of logistics and the closeness, how

04:07to manage that what Mexico exported is more competitive than the rest of countries.

04:15That's the route that Mr. President has been building.

04:19So that's the strategy of President Obama, and it's working, because today we have a

04:26preferential treatment, and we have here in what are reciprocal tariffs.

04:31This is the world map.

04:34There are some countries like Russia that has sanctions, because if they were exempted

04:39– people were saying that if they were exempted, but it's just another situation that has

04:43to do with the war in Ukraine.

04:46So in this red color is all the different tariffs that were announced yesterday.

04:55So in the case of Mexico, as we can see, the United States, of course, the one that imposed

04:59it, and Canada, we have a treaty.

05:03So we have 0 percent.

05:04It's the only case.

05:09That's how we can translate this treaty that has been managed thanks to the strategy of

05:15President Obama and achievement from the point of view that when this all began a few moments

05:21ago, there were not going to be any exemptions.

05:25The next – this is from the first graphs that were published, because there are going

05:33to be many information in the next – in the coming days, who has free trade agreement

05:39with the United States and what reciprocal tariffs were imposed.

05:44All these countries have free trade agreements.

05:48As you can see, Singapore, Morocco, Jordan, Nicaragua, Chile, South Korea, Colombia, Peru.
