00:00The government is prepared and has a contingency plan in place to rescue Filipinos abroad who may be caught in a conflict.

00:07The Armed Forces of the Philippines, or AFP, gave this assurance following a statement by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr.

00:15who instructed soldiers to prepare for a possibility of a Taiwan invasion.

00:19Brawner stated that the Philippines would inevitably be attacked and affected if Taiwan were attacked.

00:25The contingency plan includes the rescue of approximately 250,000 overseas Filipino workers

00:31which will be led by soldiers from the AFP Northern Luzon Command.

00:35According to experts, Brawner's statement has merit, especially since China has long expressed its intention to reunify Taiwan.

00:43Meanwhile, the palace assures the public that there is no reason to panic.
