00:50From 58 pesos last January, it was lowered to 45 pesos,

00:55the maximum suggested retail price for imported rice,

00:59which was started by the Agriculture Department last Monday.

01:13The MSRP was implemented after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved

01:19the reduction of rice tariffs to 15% from 35% in July 2024.

01:26According to Palacio, since the MSRP was implemented,

01:30the price of imported rice has been reduced by 19 pesos,

01:34which used to be 64 pesos per kilo.

01:38That was the reason why the inflation rate was lowered last February.
