‘It’s just not enough’: does a new living wage really make a difference?

We’re asking people around Cardiff if increases to national living and minimum wages are making a difference for people, or are costs too out of reach for wages to keep up?

00:04it's not enough for people live on you know I know people doing three jobs but

00:08they're still not earning enough you know so I think they need to raise the

00:11people from the bottom up and obviously if the minimum wage people are earning

00:16more money surely that goes into the economy because they're spending more

00:19rather than saving it and watching every penny. From what my friends say yeah

00:22the national minimum wage especially for renting especially you know like the

00:27insane levels of rent they all pay not able to save any money and like you know

00:32I still I still live at home and like and most of my mates still live at home

00:35but the ones who are renting it's just insane trying to get by on you know 35

00:39hours a week it's just not enough. Yeah the wages are good like I think

00:43everything's going up in life but your wages are staying the same in a way

00:47everything's getting more expensive in the shops. You've got to learn how to go without less

00:53with less then yeah everything is too expensive. I think it's expensive to live now

00:58it is expensive
